ANNIVERSARY GATHERING!!!!!

hey gang,
as those of you who attended teh january meet heard we have an agreement with island dragway in great meadows, nj to hold an anniversary gathering. we will be holding the event on sunday, august 14th 2005.
we plan to feature drag racing, car show, vendors, and hopefully a chassis dyno.
the prices for participation are not set in stone yet, so i will report those at a later date. we do plan to create event specific t-shorts and flyers for this show.
we are also going to look into getting a little bit of media coverage for the event and some community involvement if possible.
been kicking around a few names and it looks like we will be using the old "East Coast F-Body Nationals" title that was successful in the past. the name is recognizable from past events that i worked on and big enough to allow our anniversary event to grow into a powerful annual gathering that peopel will come from all over to attend.

there is a lot fo work to be done on this in the next several months. if anyone has any suggestions or would like to lend a hand let me know by posting here or PM me.

Only F-bodies will be allowed to race or show their cars on that day. Club membership will not be mandatory for entrance.

I really have no intention of racing the 305. Its a fin cruising car for me, and thats probably all it ever will be. MAYBE I'll convert it to TPI/5 speed to have some more fun, but thats about it. All of my grandios plans that I had, I decided to save it for another TA. with a 350 TPI and digital dashboard already in it.

we have a frame work for the racing classes. i will get that posted up asap for everyone. it is a set up that has been successful in the past.
looks liek an all bracket program unless we come up with a heads up rule set that everyone will accept.
car show format is a little up in teh air, all we know so far is that it will be spectator voted. so make yer car stand out :)
i am gonna do everything in my power to make this show a big deal taht people will eb disappointed to miss.

I have no problem with a race to the speed limit from a stoplight. I do that alot, but i define that as cruisin...just getting cruising from a dead stop faster than the other car. I may take it down the strip once or twice. not against anyone. ive just never drag raced at a track, and I wanna get the experience. If its as cool as you people say it is, then my next TA or camaro will be built up.

Actually, a parent doesn't need to be present, they just have to sign the release form, since no one under 18 can sign contracts.

haha my dad already cant wait. hes almost as bad as i am. he actually mite take my car for a run as well. hes pretty shocked how into racing i am... mostly because its something he hasnt done. not on a track at least lol so hes cool with signing. plus he wants to come. so im set. my mom and stepdad on the other hand are ready to kill him. lol

Just grab the waiver from the track when it opens (or PM 79CamaroDiva - she has connections at Island).

No. cuz like i said, I dont want to have to put up wit some of the retards here going "oh, damn! you lost to a girl! and 305s suck!" (which I know some of you will do) Like i said, im not putting a 350 in this car. Maybe TPI, hopefully a T5, and when I get another car to serve as a daily driver, maybe in spring time I'll have someone help me build up the engine a little. if I see more than 250hp, ill be more than happy.
