Finally got a pic of my 88 TA, plus some nice company while it was being looked over.

Now if only I could figure out how to add the other pics. One is of a 4th gen Z28 parked right next to mine, and the other is of a 2000+ Mustang parked behind me and the Z. Thats the best place for a Mustang - behind the F-bodies.

Ah Blue & Silver, what a wonderfull combination :D

What that puppy needs on the exterior is a set of black Lace GTA Wheels, lowering job (wheel gap is bad mmkay) and a Black Aero Wing Spoiler :)

Well when I towed it home, AAA wouldn't let me take it directly to the storage place so I had to bring it to a garage. In a pinch, I had the tow truck take it to STS in Hillsborough and have them look it over.

In a word - Damnit!

The 305 TBI is seized. Bearings are fused to the crank. So I'm actually forced to do the 350 TPI swap I wanted. Good news is I'll get the engine I want, bad news is I cant drive it now until the swap takes place which will be a few months from now. So the beastie just sleeps in the storage place until I can find the 350 and TPI setup, plus get the space to work on it.

This is one job I want to work on personally, but will need help with. When I get closer to actually pulling the 305, I'll at least need help yanking the thing out, plus getting tips on disconnecting everything. Haynes can help only so much.

i would say get a chilton's....much better and more informative than a haynes...i have one for cheap if u want...also u may be better off goin carb or tbi as they are both much cheaper than tpi...the car is already set up for the fuel pressure of a tbi or carb and altogether i think it would be easier to keep a carb or tbi...just my opinion

shoot me a pm if u want the chilton

Dave, the car looks sweet man. I might be able to give you a hand pulling it out. Your best bet for disconnecting stuff is to get a digital cam and just take pics of everything. Even a regular camera would be great. This way you know how it all goes back together. Also get yourself a box of Ziplock baggies and some hang tags for labeling.

Another vote to keep the TBI on a 350....

Either way, I'd be glad to give you a hand with repairs/swaps/etc.

Thanks guys. I'll definately need the help. As far as I know, the TBI setup works fine, its just the engine thats seized. If I just get my hands on a 350 without the intake, I may just leave the TBI in there. However if anyone here gets another parts car in with both, I'd prefer the TPI. I've learned a lot about it over the last few months and feel more comfortable with it.

Any opinions on those $35 engine stands on ebay? I know "you get what you pay for" however they represent a 1000lb payload. Probably more like 750, however cheaper is better where I'm concerned. Anyone buy one of those el-cheapo engine stands / hoists?

If you get an el cheapo stand you can always weld a cross brace onto it for added support. Or you can keep something like a step ladder under the engine to keep the engine from sagging too far.

I say ditch the TBI and go for a TPI or even better get a stealtram setup with an ECM from Holley.....not too pricey in comparison to a full swap I don't think.

Keep TBI? What are you all on dope?

Go get a TPI harness and a HSR and you will be more then happy...but you will need to get a new hood since the HSR is too tall for Firebird hoods.

<-- My TBI truck 350 doesn't run mid 13's at 104+mph, nope, sure doesn't. TBI must suck  .
TBI is starting to get less practical with the price of port injection injectors dropping.
BTW, Al, you don't need a TPI harness for TPI. I can wire his TBI harness to any TPI ecm in less than an hour.
I too say HSR but I don't know what you're budget is.
If you've got no-place to unload the TBI parts I'd take em for free :) .

Free eh? Ideally the TBI sale would help fund other projects. However we'll see how easy and how quick I'll need to dump the old stuff.

If anyone gets a parts car in and needs to unload their 350 I have $400 waiting.
