View Full Version : Town of Closter:1, SS flowmaster exhaust:0
yeah, my "blow"master exhaust finally had it, with the screwed up driveway, courtesy of the town of closter not knowing how to pave, it fell off today. Â*Well fell off is a basic term, more like cracked the intermediate pipe away from the y-pipe and dropped down. Â*its not worth fixing, ive been wanting to change it for a few months now, but never had a good reason, now i do. Over a year ago I lost 1 tailpipe on the PIP at like 90mph, and since then its been a single outlet on the drivers side and with the pass side dumping right out the muffler. Â*I must say FLOWMASTER IS CRAP, ok for sound and great for fords, but never again will i buy their systems, clamps would not hold and pipes were JUNK. Now i have to decide what catback to buy, i'm thinking spintech or magnaflow, either will be nice. Â*Especially nice since im gonna try to make the town pay for it, a few months back they paved my street but left a 2 foot gap between my driveway and the road, about 6" deep, Â*after complaining to the borough administrator who my mom knows personally, they finally got back to pave that area, now with the feezing/thawing over the past 2 few weeks, the small pved section is lifting(at least 3") and i cant get in or out of my flat driveway without dragging bigtime. Â*Just last week we made another complaint and the guy said he'll have it repaired but it wouldnt be before april due to weather, but though ****, they ARE going to do something about it and pay for damages since they knew it was a problem. grrr...im just a little annoyed...

An exhaust I have REALLY liked on LS1 cars that sounded great, was infact a spintech set up. It was an 02' Aniversery SS Camaro with 3" Manderal Bent pipes, to a Spintech Muffler, with the stock Center-Mouth Exhaust. Spintechs defenitly have their own unique sound to them. Second to that is a GMMG or Muflex chambered exhaust.
But generally I will suport magnaflow yet again. I have not seen or heard them on an LS1 car, and im not sure what your sound preference is. But this can be a nice daily driver exhaust. Their really isnt any drone, but it does get relativly quiet at constant highway speeds and idle. It only gets loud when you the driver gets Angry
if the town's payin for it go corsa!

Id say LT's and true duals and park in the street lol
too loud will never be a concern for me, but i wont do the loudmouth because too many people have it. Â*flowmaster was nice, but crap quality. Â*I have an off road y-pipe, so whatever i do will sound good. Â*I'd run it with no catback if i knew i wouldnt get stopped constantly for it.
my friend has spintech on his truck and yes it is a very unique sound, something different than the norm, and only 399 for the catback system. Maganflow retails for like 420. so those two are very close in price. I juts emails the Exhaust guys and ill see whats happens there. Â*
My only concern is that when i do my motor swap(by next winter) i'll have to change my exhaust once again. Â*i'm doing a stroker 6.0L with an ATI setup and long tubes, high flow cats etc, and im wondering if the 2-1-2 style exhaust will flow enough or if ill have to get custom tru duals of a 4"/5" catback...i dunno but ill figure out that down the road, right now i want something decent at a decent value.

tsp sells true duals for LT's...total would run you like $850ish for headers and the exhaust...dont do cats with a blower...kinda hard to keep them together...if need be run them for when you go to inspection but other then that I'd keep them off.
yeah i figured that cats and the blower may be an issue. ill probably just weld the shields to the pipes so ti looks like they are there. I plan on doing LTs once the new motor goes in but i dont want to put any more money into the drivetrain now. considering just the new roatating asembly is 3400. after that 850 is a bargin, lol

Mufflex also sells a mandrel bent 4" system that would be good for your car.

well i tried looking at it and when i jacked up the car it hit the ground so i had to pull it off, so now my exhaust is just a little loud, Hmm mufflex s an idea too, whatever i buy now ill probably end up selling when i switch to LTs, so with a better exhaust ill get more cash back. lol. i'm going to the town administrator tomorrow and taking a bunch of pics i took, before during and after removal of the cat back, along with pics of the driveway and street. MY gf said to get them to pay for a borla or corsa and then buy a $400setup and keep the extra. heres the pic of when i first looked under, you can see the pipe twisted and pulled down.

Why would you need to change the exhaust with long tubes? Only thing that would need to change is the Y-pipe's length.
Also TSP True Duel w/ X-pipe is now On Special For $419.99 With Free Shipping

i mean id have to change my catback exhaust, since i dotn think a 3" catback can handle 700+hp. The LTs i could keep yes IF i put them on now, but i dont want to spend the time to install LTS now, when in a few months ill have the entire engine and k member out of the car. basically im building the new motor on a tubular k member with all new front steering/suspension components and then i'm dropping the stock motor and k member out and putting in the new one, much easier then to have the LTs go on at that time. i like that TSP xhaust...hmm, i may have to buy it soon.
if you dont go true dual, and dont want to change out exhausts on your next motor, check out mufflex's 4 inch system. like justin said.
my buddy was showing it to me when i was there having him do some touch up work on my exhaust setup. says they get the 4 inch system sitting up there nicer than gm gets the stock system to fit
