Anyone see the new Scoggin Dickey crate engine based on the GM 572? It's fuel injected and puts out 790 horse.
Now if I only had the 17k they want for it I'd shoehorn one into my IROC.

is that pump gas?
that is a nuts number to have on teh street. engine itself would fit pretty easy. the problem would be getting appropriate pipes in thre to let it breath. figure you would need at least a 2 1/8 primary and a 3.5 or 4inch collector.
hmmmm, time to "massage" the base of teh firewall and floor pan so you cna run teh big tubes and 3.5inch true duals with an X-pipe in there

It didn't say anything about what type fuel. I'm gonna check out the website tomorrow and see if anything interesting is listed about it....like you know...free engines to test...lol.

Yeah fitting a big block and headers in a thirdgen is a difficult task from what I've heard, although it can be done.

17 grand is a waste, you could build many other engines that match that power output for alot cheaper.

I would have to agree that 17 grand is a waste...you can build SICK things for that much money.

Sonny's Racing Engines makes a 762ci V8 making 1,160 HP. price is $53K. THAT is the most insane crate engine ever.

17k is a lot but i guess you're paying likw 4k for the fuelinjection alone. plus you get the warranty. I still say a good bet is to find a wrecked c6( or wait for a c6 zo6) and get a salvage low mileage motor. Even other race engines are expensive though, Beck Racing Engines has(well had when i was in contact with them) a 540 with 830hp n/a and it came with a 300 shot of spray for a 1130 total, almost turn key for $14k(minus starter and oilpan i think) I was going to do it in a 3rd gen drag car, but i sold that project and my plans switched to building my new SS motor. With a 3500lb car(tubbed) and that motor they said it would do 9.5x's n/a all day and like 8.7x's on spray. sometimes i wish i did it.

Personally? Id rather take a blown 396/427/454 with 2x4 highrise. Might only be putting out ~500. But god damn nothing beats a blower with 2x4 high rise comming out of the hood.

you get to a point where staying N/A becomes too much money...thats when you go supercharger/turbocharger and make that high power output without spending so much money.

1000hp version for sale and you'll only need an intake and exhaust. Trans, waterpump and all the accessories bolt right up :) . Conan is a corvette that has one. They stretched the car between the firewall and front suspension to make enough room.

Yeah but we're talking about a crate engine warrantied by the manufacturer. Any decent engine builder can make you something strong, but to offer that horsepower in a complete EFI package NA is pretty impressive. Add a turbo or Procharger and you're really making sick power.

Agreed with Jeff
