a 1995 Ford Taurus SHO. i've always liked how they looked, and the sleeper potential of them is a bonus. Plus, it's a Taurus, so my parents will never know it's the high performance model. it has 97K miles on it, and costs only $2999. my budget is $3000.....perfect! i'll let everyone know how it goes.
Correct me if Im wrong, but in 95, wasent a 5speed available?

you find me a halfway decent Grand National for $3000, and then we'll talk.
the SHO's were available with 5-speeds. the manual cars got a 3.0L V6, while the autos got a 3.2L V6. hmmmm.....higher displacement.

My other car would be an SHO. By far the most annoying and unreliable car ever built but what a great motor. If you ever need any help with performance parts (tuning even) I can help. My friend has had 3 since high school. I also know (through him) 3 other friends that own them. I've also rebuild a 5 speed transmission and pretty much done a tone of work on em... because they always need it  .
A friend got his 89 SHO to do a 14.6 with only a chopped up trash receptical homebuilt cold air intake. That was at Atco, and then on his best 60' he broke a half-shaft... so be nice with the car and beat the piss out of the motor 8)

The AWD TT Stealths and 3000GT's are doooooooooooogs. They easily tip over 2 tons, and for just abotu 300hp...thats a lot of mass to move.

well considering a ton is 2000lbs meaning 2 would equal 4000lbs and our cars weigh 3600-3800 add an awd system and BAM! 2 tons lol
skorpion317
03-06-2005, 12:19 AM
they're about 3800 lbs.
they're more of a grand touring car than an actual sports car. their interiors are more comfortable than most Japanese sports cars.
however, I'm sure some weight reduction would be in order if i got one

on to the next car....a '91 Nissan Sentra SE-R. 81K miles, 5-spd, $3300. I can talk that down a few hundred dollars. 81K miles is great, especially for the year of the car. my '98 Camaro has 88K on the clock
Specs:
140 HP @ 6400 RPM
132 ft.-lbs. @ 4800 RPM
Weight: 2414 lbs.
0-60 : 7.6 seconds
1/4 mile : 15.8 seconds
9.8" vented front rotors
9.1" solid rear rotors
this will be a fun autocross/road race car with some work done to it. good thing parts are cheap :D I'm going to see it on friday.

i got a taste of the car today...Lincoln Tech has a '92 SE-R as a "project" car. The engine performance class usually works on it. It doesn't have a VIN, strangely enough, so it could never be registered. It has 305 miles on it  Nice car, a little beat up because no one takes care of it. The seats are great, I was surprised how supportive they were. The shifter is too long, like rowing a rowboat. A short-shifter will fix that problem. it's a very sporty car, I can't wait to get mine and take it out for a drive.
If you think the shifter throw is long in the sentra, try my Jeep sometime
I gotta find the story on the net i saw a LOOOONG time ago with an early 90's sentra that went under the rear tandums of a Mack truck, it was nasty. If the woman driving it was a little taller than 4'11" she woulda died.
<<<<<<<Going to look at a 2000 Bonneville SSEi 87K miles for $7200 in PA

ehhhh Jeeps and trucks always have long throws. I'm talking as far as cars go, the Sentra has long throws. It's about the same as my old Celica, maybe even longer. The shifter is nice and smooth, but i'd much rather have a short shifter for quicker shifts.
you know what cars have amazingly short shifts? PT Cruisers. I've driven a bunch of them that were manual and the shifter throw is nice and short.

George at TTP had an SE-R. It did very well at an autocross event.
