I'm going to be making my first trip to the track in the next couple of weeks :D and need to get a helmet. I have no clue what kind of helmet to get or where to buy one. I saw some on Jegs website but I was wondering if there are any stores/shops in NJ I can go to to buy one so I can try it on before buying it? Also is there anything special I should be looking for, like DOT or NHRA approved, etc.
Any help is very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Ant
If you arent going to be at the track every weekend, most rent helmets for like $3.

I had thought about that too, probably the first time I will end up renting one. I kind of a second reason for wanting one. I'm working on a design I want to have painted on it in the color to match the car. It'll probably sit on a shelf most of the time but I would like to be able to use it when I do get to run it at track.

Those rent a helmets at the tracks are sped caps. I cant stand them. I cant even stand the helmet I current own. Check out this website. You can score some real nice helmets in the $80 range. And their Snell rated.

I just put my own order in for the CS-10 Tattoo Helmet with Grey Graphics.

if you have never owned a helmet of your own before i woudl suggest going to a motorcycle shop and trying a few on. it should be snug, but comfortable.
i usually order simpson stuff, although i may try bill simpson's new company"impact" for my next brain bucket.
