Just did this last night in addition to swissing the hood some. It's still a work in progress--I'm planning on taking a lot more bracing out from under the hood and converting to a prop rod set-up. I didn't weigh everything yet, but I'm guessing it's around 10-15lbs so far.

thats the craziest idea ive ever seen....
*offtopic* when you run your skinnies, what size are they? and do the 02 v6 cars have the same front brakes as the v8 cars?

I run 165R15 size tires. There is no aspect ratio, not sure why. If you go to the tire place and say you're looking for Volkswagon tires for skinnies, they'll know what you're talking about. I'm not sure if the V8 cars have bigger brakes or not, but you won't have trouble fitting skinnies even if they are bigger, I use a 5/16" spacer.
lol theres my problem, i was at velocity looking for 16 inch font skinnies this morning

you should have whent to auto zone and bought the fake stick on hood pins and took out the latch so when you go down the road your hood flys up* Like the kid at auto zone said, "Hey white boy!" "Will these really hold my hood down?" I told him with a smug smile on my face YES!
is anodized red ligher than regular silver ones???/

My back is sore from doing all those holes! I'll take a 6-pack of Lager on thursday, lol.
Those pins did turn out rather well. I'm thinking about going with the same style pins only silver or black if they've got em. The ones I have now just rust and the pins I just got to replace 2 that I lost don't fit :( .
Oh, and for everybody wondering about the weight of the hood it's lighter and we aren't even done with it yet.
Craig, when we get the rest of the hood chopped we need to bring the stuff over to my Dad's practice and put it all on the dog scale. Then weight everything individually on the cat scale.

i would assume you'd be the one nervous since you are the man when it comes to na/n2o v6 power and getting beat by the newbie with no power mods would just be crushing

Yeah I would have rather gotten the one with the locking key but the tech specs on it said that it would not be a good choice as the primary hold-down for the hood.

Really? I've never heard anything like that before. Scott put those on my aunt's el camino, and they haven't had any trouble with 'em.....even with the 1/2" gap caused by the wrong hood ('79 hood on '84 front clip).
