I was talkin to the guy on 37 wit the maroon blackbird, he just put headmen headers on it. someone else told me about em too, they sounded wicked on his blackbird. Anyone have any opinions on the hedman ls-1 street rod headers from jegs? Performance wise? Better off with long tubes? That sorta thing. Because all I know is theyre cheap, sound amazing, and arent too tough to install.

from what i've heard you won't notice any real gains from long tubes until 500whp or so....and all long tubes require a custom y-pipe....go with the hedmans

The street rod headers will be a block hugger type, and it depends on what you want to do. If you are looking to push alot of power from your motor then go with a nice set of long tubes, however there are consequences to both. Long tubes may or may not give you ground clearance issues, however may get you a little more power. If you plan on not going too crazy with your engine, go with a set of mid lengths, or shorties. Make sure you dont go too big on primary tubes for what you want to do also. When you are about to say bigger is better think of all the stocker guys who are dipping 10's with 1 5/8 or smaller primaries! The Hedmans are usually used when space and ground clearance along with cleanliness are an issue. Im not a fan of block hugger headers, but its all up to you.

Yes i know this, however he is talking about street rod style, which is more than likely a block hugger style header!

yeah i believe they are block huggers. theyre the ls1 headers on jegs.com. another thing that im not sure of is the little disclaimer or what have you, saying it wont fit a stock front chassis or something like that? does that mean i cant use it on my car? that sorta threw me off.
