nah i wanna stay with a 305, the car will be cruiser/show only, racing wont be a concern.

turbo96z28 03-27-2006 09:25 PM

that was my original intention for the 86.

the torque curve on a well built 383 would make one hell of a weekend cruiser.

Thats what you say now, untill it makes 150 hp on the dyno

V 03-27-2006 09:27 PM

trust me, when the IROC is ready, too many people will be staring and not caring how much hp it has

V 03-27-2006 09:28 PM

and plus..my SS will have 700+hp... 79 vette with LT1....who cares about the iroc going fast

turbo96z28 03-27-2006 09:29 PM

well, when you put it that way....305 FTW

 thats why im not going crazzy with engine swaps and all that  we see i to eye. sorta... I wish my car was a t5. how much do you think a parts car 82-84 with t5 would cost?

V 03-27-2006 09:31 PM

just a t5 conversion kit is like 500. a T5 parts car always goes for quite a bit more than auto

WayFast84 03-27-2006 09:32 PM

DAMN!!!!!!! errrr!!! freaking rebuilt 700r4... yeah but with the parts car I can always grab the console and what not. plus I can sell or keep parts.

V 03-27-2006 09:34 PM

and 82-84 had different t5 setups

turbo96z28 03-27-2006 09:34 PM

stick with the 700R4.

get your el es Juan with a T56.

V 03-27-2006 09:34 PM

82-83 i believe were mechanical clutch, and 84-92 were hydraulic.

V 03-27-2006 09:35 PM

oh and the monte would get a tranny upgrade as well ;-)

you'd probably be better off with a little car to learn on, like an old Cavalier or something.

V 03-27-2006 09:40 PM

or a civic
