Good news your head studs are leaking as they should.

Way to listen to the internet.

LS1 != diesel.

i was reading up on metal head gaskets that people usually spray them with some adhesive.
i havent found the source but ill just give them an extra 5 pounds to see if it reaolves anything

WildBillyT 10-26-2012 08:45 AM

Disregard. I was going off of AFR's recommendations but I guess that's not accurate for the LS1.

LTb1ow 10-26-2012 08:46 AM

What if you torque em enough, will they strike gold?

dont own one of those.
i got the big 1 inch though! the long barreled ones for truck tires.
but id have to stand ontop of my car but dont want to damage the paint so yano?

but how do you think i tigtened the oil pan.
dont want them to leak, petroleum products are costly.
1 inch impact clankclankclankclankx10

yes,
why would it be hard havent done anything too beyond the line so far

L695speed 10-26-2012 11:56 AM

If it is leaking from the head studs...this is why they sell Indian head shellac compound.....

donnj 10-26-2012 06:52 PM

"feel free to lock this thread up. "

oh no, you spoke too soon.....

I once heard if you dump alot of black ground pepper into the coolant it also helps with leaks, altho I could have heard wrong

yes i spoke way too soon,

but i got better advice. if you remove all the coolant from the system you get no leaks. hmm decisions decisions.
tightened up the plugs on the back of the heads. still havent gained the courage to check it out.

LTb1ow 10-27-2012 09:53 AM

Doesn't an LS1 have that stupid crossover thing under the intake with 4 bolts holding the fittings down? Check that maybe?

Temp sender in head tight?

Check for a leak down test or compression check to see if you blew the HG?

Drain coolant and run liquid molten sodium as a coolant?

Rip it all out and throw in a common rail?

Que?

all i heard was high pressure common rail.:)))

yeah has the crossover in front and 2 plugs on back
i tried to make it leak but it stopped.
i dont believe problems resolve themselves but this time im going to pretend it did
