:hail:

you can get a beater cheap
mine was 1300

that would cost me more than just fixing the T/A and finishing the camaro

Of course it's going to be a slauter if you come out sprayin. I just have to go faster than the truck i'm towing it there with, that's my rule.

i dont think the 305 could handle spray

plus i have a buyer for it this weekend

bubba428 01-24-2008 09:42 PM

Damn...diggin in fast huh?

98tadriver 01-25-2008 01:26 PM

buyer for it meaning the nitrous.

bubba428 01-25-2008 02:14 PM

o0o can't wait to see how far you chop this thing down

87Fbird 01-25-2008 09:37 PM

Sweet, I got a buyer for my tranny. He better go through with it too because it was a pain getting the thing out. With the money I can rebuild the TH-350, get the swap kit and a reverse manual valve body. Not bad if you ask me. I still don't know what kind of torque converter to get for it though. And i have to find out what starter will work with it.

IMO if you want it to still be reasonably streetable, don't go with anything much higher than 3000 stall. I have two converters for a TH400 that are 3500 stall (one is ATI the other is dynamic) and they are borderline streetable..

87Fbird 01-27-2008 02:27 PM

It's not going to be streetable at all. This is going to be a track dedicated car. I'm keeping the 305 in it pretty much stock for this coming season so i can get use to the car and running down the track. Next year I plan to have a nasty 350 in it. This year will be my "rookie" year and i want to get as much out of the 305 that i can without dumping a lot of money into it. I'm not keeping the 305, I'd rather concentrate my spending into the 350. But i still want decent runs this summer. Ya know what i mean?

Tru2Chevy 01-27-2008 03:41 PM

Well a converter that will work well with a mostly stock 305 will be far different than a converter that will work well for a heavily modded 350.

you'll get bored with a stock 305 before you're done with your first day. They're also not very consistent. Depending on how the next few months go for me financial-wise, I MIGHT look at unloading my zz4 and TH400 combination. They're built to be a mostly strip sometimes streetable combo. Not terribly fast, low-mid 13s consistently, and if someone could dedicate some more tuning time to it than I can right now, it will easily be in the 12s. the TH400 is already race built with a reverse manual valve body and B&M shifter, zz4 is bored .030 with JE pistons, a .509 lift cam from GM performance and MSD 6AL. If it's something you'd be interested in, but not for a little while, I'll keep you in mind, as im not sure about selling because it would probably destroy me :(

98tadriver 01-27-2008 08:03 PM

I'll have my 305 into the 13s and maybe 12s this year :)

If that combo got stuffed into a nice light, prepped 3rd gen unlike the land barge you have it in it would prolly go 12's as is.

So, you guys are saying don't waste my time with the 305? And i guess Ron's getting those heads i told him about and spray maybe? 12s with a 305? You'll need about 100 shot or more to touch 12s

NITROUSKING 01-28-2008 08:21 PM

i didnt know people raced in nj:mrgreen:

87Fbird 01-28-2008 09:00 PM

I found out more people raced than I though once I strayed beyond the demolition derby scene.

98tadriver 01-28-2008 11:42 PM

Lets just say, with the weight of my car, i wont need too much HP to hit 12s

bubba428 01-29-2008 06:44 AM

haha yea i just opened up a few more horses yesterday(free mod), HUGE difference

87Fbird 01-29-2008 01:11 PM

Did you get a hold of some fiberglass and lexan? How much does it weigh?

bubba428 01-29-2008 05:12 PM

I was thinking about tearing into the car pretty soon

Jersey_TA 01-29-2008 11:36 PM

We'll see how this season goes. Hit a road block with what I want to do this year depending on my next place I move to.
