Yes, it's for real. It's a very small bike... however it still does 15's on the 1/4 mile. I bought it not for speed, but for economy. I get 70 - 80 mpg with the bike....

Consider this: I was just in NYC, and paid $2.83/gallon for premium. :(

I've had day dreams about doing that. Sticking a 600 or 900 into a quad. Then I thought about putting one into a golf cart... and the end of the day it was a mini-formula style open wheeled racer but I already built 2 of those so I said **** it... back to the golf cart idea. Now I wonder... how fast could I cut my lawn with a 100hp lawn mower... definatly faster than today which took 4 ****ing hours and it was COLD! Bah, I'm done with idea's. Buddy out in ohio has an old golf cart  and we're getting an F3 for it. Did I mention that Garrett GT15 turbo we got for free? Yeah, that'll be stupid fun when we find the time.

On a serious note, how does the 250 feel? Can you still take it up to highway speeds pretty quick, especially with a light rider? I was looking at the 250's last summer, and the prices are still pretty good. I might just get one to have fun with, put a few miles on it, and then upgrade to the next size.

250 is the best starter bike. It's cheap and easy to learn. Can't get in trouble much unless you stall it and you've got an impatient driver behind you...
600 is the perfect imbetween size. I wouldn't want anything more than 600 on a bike I drove a LOT. 100hp and 450lbs is plenty fast to keep you from getting in trouble with the occasional rain. 900 and up, yeah, that's like a death wish if you aren't a seasoned biker.

The 250 does just fine getting to highway speeds... it's still faster than most ricers :) and I'm not a light guy either.. I'm 200+ and it still hauls nicely. Brand new Ninja 250's are $3000 according to the website, although the dealerships will sell for around $3300 - $3500. Still the cheapest 250cc bikes out of all brands. If you ever want to test out my 250, by all means you can try mine out. Just let me know and we can set up a time and place to meet.
