i have been up to the paulinskill viaduct twice. it up off route 80 in north jersey. its a old abandonded train bridge. it was built in the early 1900's and at the time was the biggest bridge of its time. i think that only lasted a few months though. you can climb up into it and climb through the arches. its not really scary or anything just strange that its abandoned and is in the woods. i think its about 100 feet tall. its cool heres a link:
http://www.xydexx.com/modernruins/paulinskill.htm i just read that link. we went all the way to the other end of the bridge through the arches. i think there was 6 or 7. |
Ohh and theres this really weird like 4 ft long brige wich once used to be a rail road crossing over a little stream in the dismal swamp but its like in the middle of the swamp and NO tracks leading up to it............me and my freinds have to shimmy across it some times when were being rednecks for the day..

menantico colony in vineland :D it was a mental institute back in the 20s and 30s from what ive heard the place is creepy as hell at night but during the day idk, the campus is huge prolly has about 15 buildings. the thing is that its gaurded by cops too, but you get arrested immeadiately if you set foot on the property :(

I know of a few places. there is a building that I know of that has a tank, yes a military tank, on the second floor. there is also an abandoned WWII government depot near me. Liz mentioned the North Princeton Development Center, thats a good one, but you have to be pretty sneaky. Demon's Alley in north Jersey isnt very scary, but there are some strange little houses. And of course there is the Prosthetic Limb House, which is actually curt86iroc's grandparent's house

Hell You can be real cheap and take some pics of a walk way in my gramps house LOL! its concrete and all cracked! we can get some fake cob webs and some cool holloween decorations...

Greystone ... the 90% abandoned mental institution off of route 10, near like dover/ or somewhere around there

My friends used to go to lamberville school all the time. I've been to clinton and runyon(sp) road several time (both big features in weird NJ) I have the boxed set, special edition of clinton road, and book if you wanna check them out sometime. My friends also frequent abandoned asylums, if you want i can talk to them to see if they would be willing to all take a trip up there and take you with them. I'm sure they would be.

yeah kasey, that place, actually its on an island i believe, if you look at the lay of the land closely and how im pretty sure you have to go over a bridge each way to get to it. anyways, a while back i wanted to see if it was for sale and hoping the town would cut me a break if i agreed to keep it as a landmark or something, but then i work of from that "dream", and realized this is the real world and everything is hella expensive.

theres a old abandoned coal factory and pier that stretched way out into the water with a old sunken ferry in carteret, its wild looking we use to ride our dirtbikes back there and run around inside, me and my friend climbed the broken stairs about 20 stories up to the top of the tower on the pier its really cool. half the peer is gone cause it looks like it burnt down but most of its left. theres like a huge conveyor belt to bring the coal to the factory, theres also these 2 long warehouses next to it but its dark inside and we never brought flashlights so we got no idea whats inside. also in the coal factory itself u can climb the ladders and go up inside the place. its in carteret right back behind conrail the train yard, u can see it in the distance from a bridge over there if forget what road though

Since this is the perfect time to visit weirdNJ places here's some attachments for GOOGLE EARTH "EXACT DIRECTIONS"
I've posted them so it's easier to find "YOUR WELCOME" http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html <---- GOOGLE EARTH You have to go through a park and you will come up to a fence you will jump the fence and go down a 2 mile long road "PRINT DIRECTIONS AND MAP" your going to need it, this was my favorite place Slaughter House Just be careful around Greystone there is a police station not even like 3 miles away we parked on a side road behind the building.... "Greystone is awesome" GreyStone Dont forget to bring flashlights |
