when you get on a sportbike, or any bike for that matter you are putting your life on the line, no matter how your ride. This situation is at the extreme and shows why many cops wont chase bikes. high speed car chases are bad enough, but high speed bike chases often result in the suspects death. Dont get me wrong, im not sayign its the cops fault, the guy was an idiot plain and simple. at least it probably was pretty quick and painless(after the first initial impact) After riding several years ive seen and heard it all just about. If that scene of the crash keeps just one person from buying a bike and never riding then good, thats possibly one life saved. personally, that scene doesnt deeply affect me, it doesnt make me feel bikes are dangerous and im sure some people would interperut that from it. I see it as a a reality check... and a few tickets and/or fines are not worth your life. if you get busted, just stop and accept it. and all in all, i will not alter my riding style based on that, because i dont ride stupid, i obey laws and speed limits, yes on open roads i will hit triple digits but i know my limits, 75% of riders dont. ok ive rambled on enough for now... people just need to learn to think before they act and that covers everything from bikes to cars to everyday life.

Paul, I agree with you 110%. you are a seasoned rider and you know what you are capable of. However, that douche that killed himself (thank god ono one else got hurt) was probably on his first bike and it was probably a litre bike

In any event, I view this as a reality check as well. if you're gonna ride, be responsible. :)

uummm.... WTF?? it kinda looks like they draged his aaaa "remains" from where ever it landed to where the pix were taken because of the lines in the road but who knows.. it also looks like the guys "head" in the 3rd pic is directly under the boot..like his head is faceing up and u see his nose and mouth and one ear..i could be wrong but thats what it looks like to me...anyway like everyone else said it really sucks that this guy did this to himself just to try to avoid a ticket or what ever happened and its not gunna change my opinion about rideing a bike because just cuz this guy was a ****en idiot..if im getting pulled over..i pull over and dont run because no matter how fast i go theres no out running the radio..i also dont feel like dieing (just yet) or crashing n surviveing and killing someone else then go to jail for man slaughter..that **** just isnt worth it to me

Mike 03-08-2006 12:55 AM

:stupid: I totally agree!! I deffinatly learned my lesson (first hand and in storrys) when I get my bike its not gonna be about that. Just have fun and cruise... I still dont get why people run!! they have your plates they can call them in..or show up at ur house with a warrant..I mean id never run unless it was a stollen car...but I wouldnt ever steal a car...

everyone saying thats why they have a 600.......mine went that fast easily....the size of the bike matters much less then the size of the thing between the riders ears

i agree......the only reason i said that's why i got a 600 hundred is because anything bigger is just too much for normal riding.

my 600 is fast enough for me, no need to get a 1000 or up IMHO.

did anyone hear about the kid that got killed in Edison a few years back, slammed into the side of a school bus at about 100mph. he hit the bus so hard, the frame on the bus was bent.

Will was a little shaken, and the biker was pretty banged up, but alive and conscious.. But not ten minutes before he crashed into will's vette, phil had been sitting in the passenger seat, which is where all of the glass landed, as the bike handlebar left it's "mark" (or HOLE) on the passenger side of the windshield.. It was at a rest stop that phil decided he didn't wanna have to keep hopping in and out of will's car (door hinges were broken) through the targa top, and so he got into kelly's car, with kelly and tim, tim was driving her car. Kelly watched the whole thing in the rear view mirror. The ironic thing, was that where his helmet made contact with the car, or the blacktop, it had ripped right through a sticker that said "Helmet Laws Suck". Bet he was glad he had it on.
