Well, glad we got no where with that conversation and junked up a thread that could have been done on AIM if your slacker ass was online. OK I am going to bed.

95firebirdconvertible 04-20-2006 12:03 AM

Funny that I've gotten a racing on highway ticket and none of this happened to me? I also know quite a few other people in various regions of the state that have had the same. They wont impound your car unless the cop is a real dick and/or there is something obvious illegal about it (like slicks) ...and even then they cant/wont take the car from you and sell it. All my friends have paid the fees and gotten their cars back a few days later?

As for the ticket itself I believe first offense is only like $100 maximum but you get 5 points. With a lawyer you can easily get out of the points... Since the fine is so low a court will usually be glad to hit you with a bunch of non moving violations...

if you are caught street racing, the vehicle(s) involved will be impounded on the spot and the driver can be fined up to $1000 and the driver(s) could face suspended licences depending on the area/speed limit.

the impounded vehicles will not be released back to their owners no matter what. they will be held by the town they were impounded in until the town can obtain a title for the vehicle at which time it will be sold at auction. the original owner will not be allowed to bid on the vehicle.

i can't say anything in this thread because i am guilty of street racing last night...fricking STI...

PS- didn't get caught (thank god), and i made one STI owner unhappy last night:twisted:

just had to pay impoud fees and i got it back,as far as i know only in new york do thet take ur car and auction it off

Tru2Chevy 04-20-2006 04:25 PM

California does too. A while ago someone posted a news video of them (CA officials) crushing a white thirdgen that was taken from a street racer. The stupid news anchor called it a mustang, IIRC.

Jersey does it too.

Woddbridge got about half a dozen cars one night (one of them was a kid i know)

and the last time they busted the Bayonne races they impounded about 15 cars and no one got their cars back. all were auctioned off.

bad64chevelle 04-20-2006 04:57 PM

ouch that really sucks!

11 Bravo 04-20-2006 05:50 PM

What's bad for me is I will be living one mile away from 295 and the NJ turnpike. That's gonna be real tempting.

bad64chevelle 04-20-2006 05:52 PM

haha same here, its not too bad though there arent too many cars willing to race in the area. I have cruised 295 Many times and when I finally do find something that is interested in racing its not even worth the gas i will waste.

Really? I figured there would be alot of good highway competition. There is nothing better in life than prowling the highway on fri and sat nights in a fast car. Just the minor issue of being illegal

bad64chevelle 04-20-2006 06:07 PM

ehh from what I have found there hasnt been too much. I dont know maybe once the nicer weather is out ill find more but last summer there really wasnt too much out! Once ya get into the area and want to find some places to go to find some "prey" let me know I dont live all that far from Mt Laurel

Its not as bad as you'd think. I drive about 300 miles (combined turnpike and parkway) a week, every week for the past 3 years and I've only gotten involved in one race and it was on the turnpike. I was in my marauder and I felt the need to bitch slap some chick in an RX-8. I stopped at 145 cause I felt I proved my point. In all fairness it was 1am and we were the only 2 in sight. I never do anything even remotely like that when there's traffic around. And I've never goten into a race on 295, ever.

Well in all honestly, you don't know what happened, JW doesn't know what happened, nor does anyone else. The only people that KNOW what happened was the four people involved. It was a really difficult situation to explain and it seemed like he won. But trust me, I was there, believe me or not;)

JW 04-21-2006 04:16 PM

I am going to go ahead then and say in anger of losing to the other guy you ran into him. You know u could clear this all up by just describing what happen, u got in an accident? yea... ok was he in front? yea... ok were u racing.... yea ok then.?
