I agree. However, I think the point some were trying to make was that people were totally shocked when the subject was already discussed in depth in other threads.

I also love how the german car fanbois came running in. Sorry but I wouldn't touch a new BMW, MB or VW even if I HAD to.

No doubt, I'd love to own a E55 AMG car but I'd dump that thing 2 days before the warranty ends lol

That really sucks. I would definitely be pissed if I dropped that many berries on a Z06 and the roof flew off. But that's why there's warranties. When my dad got his new GTO, after we got it home we noticed some strange marks in the paint on the hood and one of the fenders, looked like stains within the paint. Took it back to the dealer, got it repainted at no cost, and now it looks like nothing was ever there. If they got some bad materials from a supplier, wouldn't there be a recall just to be safe? Long and short of it, if I had the money I'd still buy a Z06 regardless of this one incident.

That's the thing, there IS a recall on them I believe.

people fail to realize that even though you're paying a lot of money for the car, its not any less likely to break than a cheap car. All the extra money you pay for the ZO6 is for the hydroformed aluminum frame, magnesium roof support, carbon fiber inner wheel wells and the hand-built-by-god LS7. none of the extra money went towards building the car better.

The BG plant is one of the best plants in North American I belive. Its no Lansing or Oshawa, but its up there. This might have something to do with the Z06's magnesium frame and fixed roof design. I havent heard this happening on standard C6s.

It's happened to plenty of C6's. It's posted all over corvetteforum. You do realize the actual roof panels on the Z06 are exactly the same as the C6's right?

My favorite is that guy pissing and moaning that the dealership better give him his rental cause his brand new 66K dollar car is busted and that's not right and then you read, "But IDK if they'll rent cars to drivers under 25", wtf, he's under 25, what is he doing with a 66K Z06?

Yes, they are. That's why the recall isn't Z06 specific. The same deal with the roof flying off applies to the $75k car as it does to the $50k car. And the guys on the 'vette forum say that the roof panels are identical. All C6's supposedly get the magnesium roof, they just brag about it on the Z06's.

On the Z06, its bolted in place so that it cannot be removed....easily.
As for the cover, I knew it was the same, but I just didnt hear about any regular C6's having problems with this.
