Simple.
Go to HS and finish up with a formal education there.
You dont need to go to a votech school or anything like that to work on your own car. Sure, it helps but unless you plan to make that your profession when you get older, then you dont really need to do that. Go to HS, and work on your car at your own speed. You have 3 years to learn anything you want to know before you drive that car. I didnt go to a votech school, and I know several people that never went to a votech school, and they can work on thier cars pretty easily.
If after you go to HS and you realize that you want to be a mechanic, then you can go to a community college and get into an automotive training course there. If not, you can go to a 4 year college, get a degree in something, and go out into the business world, while still having your car hobby.

You know, you really should not do anything to specific right now. You are only 14 and you seem to change your mind a lot.

QFT...Finish HS trying to figure out what you want to do in life at 14 is damn near impossible. Go with the flow and see what you like and dont like but NEVER make decisions because you dont wanna go far and leave friends. The true ones will always be there. I made the worst decision of my lift going to Rutgers, and now I am 3/4 the way through it and i get booted out. I had the chance to go to McPhearson College, in Kansas for Automotive restoration. I was one of the bery few (less than 30) people picked to go there that year and I passed up for the reasons you stated. I would have had the chance to work on some of Jay Leno's cars and do alot of really awesome things. I chose not to, and went to Rutgers, ****ed up and now I am SOL until spring of next year. My excuse was that I didnt want to make my hobby a career. May be a good thing, may not have, but all i know is that I would be graduating next year and going into a really nice career. Think wisely and logically. Think ahead and make sure that you are making the CORRECT decisions for the futute, even if they dont work to the best now.

Matt... you are 14. You have a LONG life ahead of you (if you stay smart and keep out of trouble). It will take YEARS to get where you want to be today. Tomorrow you will change your mind. Go get the education. Endure it. Work part time for he experience. Then, and only then, should you consider launching your own business. Right now, the only thing you know, is the regurgitated stuff that comes from these other 20-somethings on this board. You'll learn a little, but you have a long way to go.

Keep tinkering with that 84 while you finish high school. Then go to college. If not, all you'll have is a long list of woulda, shoulda, coulda's.

This man types the truth....

Stay in school, drink your milk, take your vitamins, say your prayers, and always remember:

CRACK IS WHACK!!!

i would recommend staying in school full time until you graduate. if nothing else for something to fall back on. college is becoming more of the norm now, which means just having a high school diploma isn't always going to cut it, and not having one at all is asking for hard times. if you don't go full time, you're more likely to drop out. that's my .02.
