Looks like the guy and his friend (who lost the phone) went to the cops. Waiting to hear back from them so they can get the case number and the name of the detective who will be working on the case.

Just yesterday, there were 217 GB of bandwidth used on his website. In comparison, we use approximately 12-15 GB of bandwidth per month here....

According to his site he owed an extra $175.21 as of about 10:30 am today.

Read the forums, there is now a serious doubt in my mind if the story is true. Evan appears to be a recovering drug addict (party drugs), and is very narcissistic. Also, he has A LOT of pics on his normal website, www.evanwashere.com, of him with women, most are photoshopped. A lot of the pics of just him, by himself, are photoshopped. He posted a case #, but that's it, just a case #, and that really doesn't mean much. IDK what to think about it right now, supposedly he's been updating like once every other hour or so but according to another forum he was on he just got a new job June 1st, taking all this time off from a new job is a sure fire way to lose it really quick. I'm going to keep watching this but only to see what really winds up happening in the end.

Tell me about it, and do you know how many people will HATE him if he is lying. But there are a few flaws in his story, but at the same time, there are several parts of his story that make it look totally legit, I haven't seen any one thing that has made me sway totally one way or the other yet. No "AHA!!" as it were.

EDIT: At first when he posted the case #, it was not in proper format, people were clamoring on the boards about it, but then he fixed it an it is now a valid case number but I suppose he could have called the NYPD to see how they go about doing it so he could stop the naysayers, but he also took down his Paypal donation link so those two things together have me leaning way more towards the side that this is legit agin. Yea the pics on his page are photoshopped, yea he's marking a product called "LUV EXPLOSION" on another page, and that combined with the case # made me think, but now I'm def more back on the side that this is probably true.
