wait, did you put the timing chain and cover on? if so take it off...

i dont see why you dont put the number 1 piston at TDC and start over...

degreeing the cam is just math and watching a dial indicator/degree wheel.

chain is off

How do i know when piston is at tdc? what do I do? the head is on! should lifters be in?

Question - y do u want to degree the cam its not a race motor ?? its an over the counter bought to fit your combo cam -- is it not -- if you have a cam card thats the paper that comes along with the cam or as of late the info is on the outside of the cam box --- post the info in a message .450 intake lift ect 220 @ .050 or advertised duration ??? valve opens @ 12* X closes @ 34* type of thing and some might have spring pressure @ 1.750 - is 90 lbs do you have this info if not you need a cam doctor type tools to compute it and some one who knows how ?? i have reading info but on Crane cams or comp cams site they have a real good explain on how to -- but if u cant get the dots on the gears right -- dont know if that is going to be of any help -- ( How 2 align the dots ) on the cam top gear dot on the bottom --- the crank gear ( the bottom one ) dot on the top use a 12 inch ruel and center of crank to center of cam the dots must be in that line and torque the cam bolts all 3 to 25 foot lbs and use blue lock tight ( not RED ) and put it back together --- jz

no, i don't know how acurate these numbers are on the TGO tech data, but in 87, the l98 was rated at 225hp. In 92, the G92 LB9 was rated at 230 .....

Interesting ....

true, but look at the torque numbers. hp doesnt kill a tranny, torque does...

No, not more powerful, but the more powerful LB9 got the 5spd manual. The peanut camm'ed LB9 got stuck with the 700R4.

except for 85 irocs or z28's with the LB9. You could get a 215 hp LB9 with a 700r4 if i remember right (my bro had one. you may recall nikki's old car).

also, didnt the LB9 G92 equipped cars get a wct5 tranny?

WayFast84 09-26-2006 05:55 PM

True, true. The only thing that really stayed the same was that the most powerful engine could not come with the 5spd manual, TPI wise.
I know the L69 came with a 5spd in 84, but I with the TPI cars, you could never get the top model with a manual trans.
Im not sure about the WCT5's.
And of course I remember Nikki's car. Speaking of which, where did that girl go? I havent talked to her in 2 years.
