Jim, unfortunately that fender needs to be replaced. That's something I can do. The bad part is it needs to be painted and the adjacent panels need to be blended...that I can't do.

I'm going to try to find a used fender and pray it matches...insurance won't cover it(looooooooong story there).

Rob WS6 12-06-2006 05:41 PM

T, call up contemporary, Im sure theyll have one thatll match.

Frosty 12-06-2006 07:28 PM

Been there done that, they don't have anything.

I have a few other places to call tomorrow. Ideally I want to get a matching fender but that's not saying that'll match perfectly either.

enRo 12-06-2006 10:47 PM

My painter matched my 1/4 panel and doors real nicely to the rest of my car. Im sure as long as u dont go Maaco, itll be matched perfectly.

qwikz28 12-06-2006 11:19 PM

im sorry to hear that tony, my saturn was hit yesterday too and it has a gash along the bottom of the rear drivers side door. thats nothing compared to what you have, and not to mention it wasnt my camaro. if that happened to my car i would cry. good luck with that man

Ugh...I am sorry to hear about ur car. No respect :( Some people just dont give a **** bc its not their's. ********.

armymp1983 12-07-2006 10:20 AM

why won't your insurance cover it?

I'll have to find the pics, but my vette got hit in the same side fender but it split the fender near the bumper. Hit and run also. I know how you feel. Try corvetteforum.com check the c5 classifieds or post a wanted ad for a used fender there.

Long story lol

I tried posting up on CF but no one has anything, I tried all the big Corvette salvage places too, no dice :(

unstable bob gable 12-07-2006 11:27 PM

Totally bogus. :(
Hope ya find a fender that will work for ya. :)

Frosty 12-08-2006 06:13 PM

We'll see, getting estimates tomorrow...oh this is going to hurt lol

BonzoHansen 12-08-2006 07:00 PM

Try here: http://myworld.ebay.com/fparts

Rob WS6 12-08-2006 07:08 PM

Bozo, fparts is Contemporary Corvette.

Tony, I made a few calls today and I couldnt find one either. Damn, youd think there would be one out there!

BonzoHansen 12-08-2006 08:11 PM

Oh, ok. I just know he has LS setups on ebay all the time and he is in Bristol.

Rob WS6 12-08-2006 10:42 PM

He is where I bought my LS1 setup from... and tons of other parts too. Good guys to deal with... prices are a bit high, but they only sell top quality stuff.

Teds89IROC 12-08-2006 11:57 PM

I bought my complete 3.42 10 bolt from them, $200 shipped...still no problems :knock on wood:

Rob WS6 12-08-2006 11:58 PM

$200 SHIPPED? Shipping would cost atleast $150... and in person for 3.42's with brakes they charge $350, $250 for 3.27's. Howd you pull that one off?

Frosty 12-09-2006 03:15 PM

Rob it's hard to find spare body parts for these cars because even when they're wrecked people still buy them complete and rebuild them.

Got an estimate for $1355 which is about what I expect and what I wrote on my estimating system. The car goes in a week from Monday so I guess it'll be an expensive Christmas present to myself, lol.

Iguana Man 12-09-2006 03:26 PM

I know how you feel man. Actually, my situation was worse. I had my old 69' Charger RT parked and covered for the winter. Noticed the car cover was ripped by the passenger side front wheel. Uncover it to prep her for the buyer and discovered WHY the cover was ripped. Big f***ing dent in the same quarter panel as you.

The worst part was, I live in a private community (non gated - and mostly blue collar folks) so whoever did it, chances are I know them or it was their company.

Meh...I feel bad for ya dude. The days of people leaving a note are done. It's a f-ed up world man....f-ed up.

My condolences.

Iggy

Like I've said to others in response to them saying "Well it could've been worse". It sure could've. I could've seen them try to drive off and me ending up in jail.
