a lot of people can b!tch about it but to actually do something about it; a very small amount of people step up. We need to stop buying oil from these dirt bags and drill our own oil.

..and how would the general public like you and I control that? We can't. I'm tired of hearing the phrase "people bitch but do nothing about it". We don't have any control over prices.

yes, we can.

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out at this point.... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people.

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 =3D 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =3D 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you?

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.

by doing that, or at least trying to. You can't say there is no way you can change it, like he said; one person can't do it but if a lot of people do this then it would have an impact

perhaps, but the slightly lower gas prices than elsewhere isn't enough to compensate for all the other higher taxes, cost of living, insurance, house prices, etc that make nj so absurdly expensive to live in.

i just found this really cool site that you can view our average gas prices over however long you want to. i did our 3 month, and then you can also compare it to other states as well (the box below the graph) take a look at NJ, NY, and CA over the past 3 months.

No, he means that all Exxon and Mobil stations are not owned by the same company anymore. Brand name on the pump doesn't really have much bearing on what gas is used anyway.

My father has been managing several different gas stations for the last 30 years. He has been at the same station now since the summer of '99, and it was a Mobil when he started there. Several years ago, Lukoil bought the vast majority of Mobil stations in NJ and PA (and a few other states too) and they just recently rebranded them to Lukoil. Approximately 90% of the gas that gets delivered to my dad's station is from the Valero refinery.

That's pretty cool -- played around with it a little ... looks like over the past year we have been under the US average ... so HEY IT COULD BE WORSE! (i.e. Hawaii).
