Great write up!! that might explain a few things for me. Two years ago I was working at a repair shop and deicded to put a posi unit in my rear ( this is before I researched things lol ) turns out it didnt work, so I put my old diff in and had my friend use a back lash tool cause i didnt know how it worked.

If all you were doing was changing carriers (same gears) then no setting of backlash is necessary.

Actually, it is the pinion depth that does not need to be re-set in that situation.

labor- $300

well remember theres a crush collar on the pinion, and thats a one time use. and I was going from 3.08's to 3.42's so it had different carriers, and it was my dd at the time so I had to get it done asap. stupid move on my part. what can I say i was 19 at the time, when I thought I knew my **** lol.

I will be able to tune 98 and newer cars in the very near future. I have been meaning to get with Foff to get set up with HP tuners but I have been extremely busy lately. In the mean time I do have someone that I can reccomend you to.
