but the 80 grand was probly in a body kit, sound system, dvd player, paint job, vinyl and a new spoiler    cuz we all know how those things make inports so much faster  |
Besides if you break and evo what are you looking at in costs to fix it, i think axles for those things are a few grand just for one, then you will go and break it again. But hey its JAP, what do you expect.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=os7eKSAq-Y8 Yes he probably did say that and it probably did run 14s, but because some poser says that doesnt mean thats the end all say all of evos. |
ever here of saying wat u need to say in one post?
theres things called paragraphs which are used to separate thoughts, u dont need a brand new post for each new thought |
Lets not forget what purpose the evo was built for...handling. An evo will out corner any fbody to date. Those who have taken an on ramp at 60 in one will know what I mean. No body roll, no tire noise, car feels absolutely stable, and it has power to pull itself out of the corners.
Yes an LS1 is cheaper and can be made faster in a straight line for a little less than an evo can, but the ls1 didnt come out until 97, the 4g63 motor has been out since the early 90s and used to be the ultimate cheap mod motor. An evo with a boost controller and a few other bolt ons is fully capable of 12s and the mods cost just around the same as they would cost to get an ls1 to run consistent 12s. Between the two, I would still take an fbody. Considering what an ls1 z28 can be purchased for vs. any year evo, Ill take the ls1. |

I put them into one large post for you. That better? Maybe we can get that sand out of there now.... |

I think the evo's and sti's are bad ***!!!!!

ya my friend has 93 trans am "lt1" and my other a 05 evo and the lt1 beats it by a length so a ls1 def takes it

if by handle you mean slide and drift and all the crap they do around turns on a rally course, yea i guess your right, but your comparing it apples to oranges to a f-body if you want to compare handling
|
i guess im jaded because ive watched an evo that was trying to run around a little parking lot course we had back in the day.......all the other cars made it through (im talking acura tl's rsx's a couple civics...nothing that should handle that great) and this evo smacked a curb and ended up being totaled.

Does anyone here know how much psi the EVOs turbo runs at from the factory?
|
Oh man...didnt you read the thread that I posted up about my new DD? If you didnt notice...it got pretty crazy in there...and thats just my DD. lol. Well whatever you decide....good luck with it  I'd stick with an LS1 if I were you...but thats just mo.

then when it snows more then 3 inches we'll see who has to catch a ride to work. I would take my 05 legacy gt over my gta any day. gta is obviously alot faster in the straight line but the legacy is more comfortable to drive, most girls like it better, it handles better in the rain, drives better in snow...took it to jay peak a couple times with no problems. even got 20-30 mpg city and highway. Put 60k miles on it in 2 years...i replaced 2 tires, 2 low beam bulbs, 1 rear wheel bearing, rear brake pads and it got its 30k svc and tire rotations every 6k miles...other then doing maintenance i never had a problem. I have friends with sti's, one in particular had turbo back exhaust, a modified stock air box (took the resonator out) and flashed it with the cobb ap and ran 12.4...if you know how to drive and mod the car correctly you won't have a problem but he sold it in for an evo tr bc he races autocross...and you guys talk about breaking axles...i guess you forget how weak the 10 bolt is. Put slicks on your stock 4th gen and dump the clutch at 4k rpm and see what happens to your rear or driveshaft. Just like you would swap your rear, you can get stronger parts for imports too...it's funny because the whole import axle thing is pretty stereotypical just because we've seen hondas break axles all imports must. To each his own that is why everyone is different it's a matter of opinion.

Most importantly, the evo is NOT going to get you laid.
|
the evo only feels fast...i know a few kids with stock ones to 11 second ones.... they are very misleading....they "FEEL" fast cause of the AWD and turbo boost..... besides they are maxed out from the factory.... a ls1 with a couple bolt on's would destroy um... my buddied 98 camaro ls1 with a maf upgrade, intake, tune, and full exhaust destroys 95% of them out on the road

Not sure what it runs stock, but 24 psi is just sick. |
