i don't think i've ever seen someone get so butthurt over a freaking GAME before lol

Firebird67dude 09-17-2007 12:16 PM

I didn't even watch the game last night. Nor did I watch any of them this weekend. I couldn't care any less about baseball. I just really hate the yanks and I am a Boston fan.

unstable bob gable 09-17-2007 12:24 PM

These guys get thrust into the "role model" role. I'm not saying it is right what some of these guys do, but it is their personal business. A-Rod's wife or girlfriend doesn't hit the ball for him. And if the media wsn't so g-d nosey and gossipy, this crap wouldn't even get out. And hell, athletes have been messing up for years...Babe Ruth was a known slut, Ty Cobb was basically a Klansman with a killer batting average, Mickey Mantle was a slut and a boozehound, and there are a bazillion other stories out there about boozing, womanizing, betting on games, etc. Look at baseball in gen'l...they wouldn't let a black man in until 1947, when the Negro leagues had killer talent for years and years before then. The whole underbelly of the sport is ugly. But I take it for what it is...a sport I enjoy.

PS: Boston won their one World Series for the next 600 years a couple of years back, so you should be happy. And just remember, the Yankees are THE MOST SUCCESSFUL TEAM IN SPORTS HISTORY! Even if the Yankees disbanded tomorrow, Boston would NEVER have that kind of success, EVER!!!

Firebird67dude 09-17-2007 12:39 PM

Yea, beacuse no other team has the money the yanks have. Like I said b4, give every team the $$$ that the yanks have, then you'll see that every team would end up being like the yanks.

Maybe then by UBG's post it is evident that everyone idolized the wrong people. Maybe we should role model the real heros. Not these over payed athletes. My kids are never gunna idolize losers like this. They are gunna idolize people like:

Lt. Gen. James Conway
Sgt. Maj. Carlton Kent

Along with all the REAL HEROS!!

Oh please. They know exactly what they are getting into when the sign their contracts for millions upon millions of dollars. They know that they will be looked at with a microscope. If they don;t like it then take their money back and give them a kick in the ***. Its totaly wrong that some baseball player get payed more that someone that risks thier life everyday. I.E. every firefighter, police officer, military soldier, how but doctors that save peoples lives everyday. Tghey should be the ones getting payed that money. Not some chuch hitting a ball with a stick.

though this is true its not like someone picked that baseball players should make more then doctors and soldiers. the owners of these teams have a lot of money to spend and its a bidding game to get the best players on their team. its not like the government is giving more money to baseball players then to soldiers or firefighters, its individual owners that are writing the paychecks for the players

alamantia 09-17-2007 12:59 PM

You have us yankee fans there, A-rod is the only ball player ever to go home with a hot chick when in another city. Since 1882 every other player slept with their teammates on every trip. No Boston player has ever spent a night away in a different hotel. Poor kids will have to get another role model now.

How's it his fault that they can't concentrate and let one person distract them from doing their job? Not his fault they suck.

Its called having respect for the game. Not playing like a 9 yr old in pee wee leauge.

slasherbarb 09-17-2007 02:34 PM

just remember, at Boston's current rate it will take them 300 YEARS to equal the amount of title's the Yankee's have...and as a die hard fan, I don't care if the Yanks really win the division or not...just as long as we get to the playoffs...but it would be nice to see the Red Sox start slipping and the Yanks win the division again...i bet the suicide rates in Boston would instantly triple if the Red Sox collapse...again...

No, I'm content with the fact that unless the offense decides to actually do something for once this year, we wont' make it to 3-0. But we'll see. Their defense seems to be waaay better than last year, so I'm just hoping that it will be a good game.

It's not MLB that decides to put more money into the Yanks pockets, it's the fans. It's the loyal NY fans that buy tickets to games, buy food/beer, buy jerseys, and all other stuff that adds to the Yanks annual profit margin over other teams. If other cities don't care for their home team and don't want to show up for their games, like what happened in Montreal, then it's not the Yanks fault that they have more fans who are willing to contribute to the team. And a few years ago when the Yankees decided to build a new stadium, MLB offered to give a percentage of the cost but they said no, and the Yanks are building their new stadium out of their own pockets and told MLB to distribute that money amongst the other teams.

And Boston has nearly the same payroll as the Yankees. They only differ by about 1%. So to call Boston the "underdog" is rediculous.

I'll stand by this comment any day of the week: guys like you who willingly enter the armed forces, especially in times of war, are by far BIGGER HEROES then anybody swinging a bat or kicking a ball!

Savage_Messiah 09-18-2007 09:01 PM

N' not only that, the White Sox and Tigers, who are both "small market" teams, have done pretty well for themselves the last couple of years. So, it ain't always about the bux!

Don't forget the Marlins who won 2 World Series titles with the cheapest possible players in '97 and '03.

seems like your panties are the only ones in a bunch, and you sure have a bunch of opinions for someone that admits to not watching or caring about baseball

Arod is a poor role model? How about that asshat Pedro who threw Zimmer to the ground in the ALCS? You throw a friggin man 3x your age to the ground? Role Model material.
The scuz and scum that surrounds Boston is astounding. Its payroll is just as big as the Yanks, and they could buy just as many people as the Yanks could, and have.
And on top of it all, some of the best Yankee players are not multi-million dollar players. ARod is having (finally) a stellar year, putting up some big hits, but since the all star break, EVERYONE is having a very good season.

Mike 09-19-2007 09:07 PM

so boston fanboi, what do you have to say now that the 14 game lead you had at the all star break is down to 1 game

BonzoHansen 09-19-2007 09:10 PM

Uh-oh, Papelbon blew the game tonight....
