Hey Tim, Someone's gotta pick on ya. LOL

NJSPEEDER 09-23-2007 08:17 PM

gary, how many times can we have the 40k sports car vs the 28k 4seater discussion before you understand that i know corvettes are quicker off the showroom floor. the thing you seem to be missing is that you still have to drive it son, and that means there is always a chance of you losing.
yes i am gambling on it, but it is for fun anyway so what do i care. ruby's? if that is what you are willing to risk, it's on like donkey kong!!!

12secondv6 09-23-2007 08:21 PM

Mom's 98 c5 auto went 13.3 at 104 w/ hypertech, 160 thermo, drop in k&n and relocated mass air temp sensor.

If drivers were equal I would lean towards the vette..... but tim has a good drag racing back ground.

I'm gonna lean towards tim

Icemansghost 09-23-2007 08:26 PM

See We have something to go about on... I also have the vararam intake... Ive been wanting to race for a long time. I'm only busting your b+lls.. My Corvette only cost me 18 grand.

NJSPEEDER 09-23-2007 08:28 PM

haha, you payed twice what i did. bahahahahaha
and you always wonder why i bust on corvette owners. no room, doesn't ride any nicer than an f-body, and you paid double. bahahahahah

Icemansghost 09-23-2007 08:34 PM

No rpo code f45...rides better than any camaro. and the corvette downforce is much better than your ride.

Downforce works against you on the dragstrip.......

Before anyone says anything, I'll rephrase.

In this scenario, with these two cars, downforce will work against you. Maybe if we were talking about a couple of 6 or 7 second rides you could brag about your downforce......

RPO F55

The optional F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension features magneto-rheological dampers able to detect road surfaces and adjust the damping rates to those surfaces almost instantly for optimal ride and body control. The system has been improved for the C6, allowing drivers more differentiation in character between the system’s two settings, “Tour” and “Sport".

Thats one reason why they cost more.

NJSPEEDER 09-23-2007 09:25 PM

sooooo, what you are saying is that for only 9k more than i paid you got a button that isn't going to help you one little bit at the drag strip? wow, that clears everything up. what an awesome deal you got afterall. lol

Icemansghost 09-23-2007 09:40 PM

You also get Hud, dual climate control, a targa top, 6 way power memory seats, more trunk space. My gas mileage in my 1997 m6 z28 took me to virginia, my corvette took my to North Carolina on a tank of gas. Corvettes look better!!!!!

Icemansghost 09-23-2007 09:43 PM

If Tim Wins I will wear a pink tight shirt to work...

Quoted just so you can't edit this after you get spanked

NJSPEEDER 09-23-2007 09:49 PM

umm, the seats are approximately 10inches apart, how important is dual zone climate control at that point? does a magical wall pop out and keep your air away from the passengers air?
no matter how many way adjustable seats are, i don't ever move mine. so i will put that in the useless column as well.
HUD, who needs it. if you are going so fast that you can't afford to look down, you don't need to check if you are exceeding the speed limit.
a trip to NC on a tank of gas, so you get high 20's mpg on the hgihway, oh wait, the camaro does too. file that under whoopity friggin doo. i also don't see why you wuld think gas mileage is the primary concern of anyone buying a V8 to drive everyday. if i cared about mileage above all else, i would gt an aveo, they get like 37 on the highway
i don't know what was wrong with your 97, but you shoudl have had it looked at, was that the one that you blew up the rear in and bought the 18k vette instead of fixing the rear under warranty?
looks? i think the C5 and C6 vettes look like european turds. i haven't liked the styling of any vettes past the mid 70's, and even many of the 70's model years i coudl do without. looks are individual taste, so that doesn't account for much either way anyhow.

so far i am not seeing any real advantages to your vette, and certainly none that would ever convince me that it is worth double what my car is.

12secondv6 09-23-2007 09:49 PM

I have spare nitrous bottle laying around that assures Tim's win

Frosty 09-23-2007 09:57 PM

Tim...unless Gary tards out at the line you're so toast it's not even funny.

It's Gary's race to lose...and I'm not saying that because I'm a vette owner, I'm saying that because your cars are close when stock and he has more mods than you. My vette the way it sits would run faster than your SS and Gary has more mods than I do.

No room? I don't have any storage space issues...and my vette rides nicer than my Z did(though the Z handled a lot better).

Ever drive one? The fit and finish is leaps and bounds above a Fbody.

With that said I still want another thirdgen. :(

on paper the answer is clear, but we don't race on paper, so we will see how it goes. i gotta take the tree from him pretty bad to even this up and since it has been years since i have competitively driven a stick car, my odds of blowing it even if i do steal the hit are still pretty high. lol

Tim's Gonna Loose!!!!!!!

NJSPEEDER 09-23-2007 10:00 PM

i understand that. haven't stated it any other way from the start. but we still have to run it to make it true.

and gary, the word is LOSE. never thought i woudl meet anyone who spells worse than me.

Icemansghost 09-23-2007 10:01 PM

I agree Frosty my 1991 Z28 was the best car I ever had!

Is that what the packaging told you?

Frosty 09-23-2007 10:08 PM

I didn't want to say anything but the Hyperjunk won't do **** aside from turning the fans on earlier and throwing in a few degrees of timing(which the LS1 doesn't need really).
