New Camaro will get LS3 I might think. LS2 will be old news by then.

You may be right, but I also think alot of the ZO6s on the road are clones. It's a bit harder to clone a Viper.

I've seen stock c6s with z06 wheels but never with badges/engine swaps. I think it's just because the Z06s are so much cheaper and more practical than vipers.

Mopar will probly put the viper motor in the challenger and call it another SRT-10

The Viper motor, while redone, will not last too much longer. They are finally getting the HP they should have gotten out of it, but the car has some trouble putting it down. Even in recent comparos of the new 600hp Viper SRT10 to the Z06, the Z06 is still VERY close despite the 95hp difference.
There are talks and rumors of a Hemi V10, smaller displacement then the 8.4, that will make the 600hp mark easy. I also hear that Ford is developing its own 7.0 liter, called the 777. 7 liters, 700hp, 700ftbs....no supercharger. Add one more 7 in there...7 gallons per mile.(yes I said that right). One more 7, 7 second powertrain warranty.

Anyway, Challenger will not get the V10, it wont ever be certified with any other car outside of the Viper. It gets crappy gas milage in a 3300lb super car, couldnt imagine in a 2 ton sports-tank..err...coupe.

Camaro's workhorse V8 engine will be the LS3, but with recent developments, it seems that GM might launch a direct injected engine, which was recently shown at GM Powertrain's debut of several technologies. The DI small block was overshadowed by twomode hyrbid sedans, hyrdogen vehicles, and other fuel saving technology. The DI Small Block was the L92 that was sitting in an Escalade, that made "well above 450hp" in the 'Slade. Thats right, a 460-480hp Escalade!! Its already one of, if not the fastest full size SUV's out there on the market without the help of turbo's!

In the article, an interview with a GM Powertrain rep said that they would like to launch this Gen V engine in a highly visible vehicle, like Camaro.

as always i am impressed with your extensive knowledge and ability to put it down so coherently....but ya a 700 horspower ford with no boost adders?! I'll believe it when i see it....

procamaroz28 10-19-2007 11:55 AM
