We met through...well...this site...sorta. I'm not as into cars as he is, but I don't mind watching, helping, whatever. That's what happens when you become friends with Justin and Tim I guess, lol

i recently traded my gf of 3.5 yrs in for a newer model. Kim approached me because of my car. She drives rice but i forgive her. There's nothing like trading in a '79 model for an '88 model lol. All kidding aside my ex hates cars and thinks they are to be driven and parked no questions asked, my current future ex loves american muscle cars just doesnt have the motivation for one yet. (didnt break up because of car hating btw lol)

Eh, I stay away from car girls now. The last ex was a nutcase, and she was big into cars. She was/is a member on this site, and spent THOUSANDS on cars, one that was soooo overpriced. She didnt listen to me, just went right along.

My current GF I met at a local bar I go to. I went out one night, and told my friend that I dont want to go to another Bar A/Jenks/DJ's, club again. We were gunna get a drink at the local place, and thats it.
3 hours later, I walk out with a phone number. Its been almost a year, and I am really happy. She is understanding of my car stuff, and she is starting to get into them a little.
When its right, its not compromise, but its the fun times you guys have with each other. Get into eachothers hobbies, and therefor you can enjoy eachother in each persons hobby.

I can never hold a girlfriend.... i'm out of control actually... you'd think at 23 i'd start to mellow out.... constant atlantic city trips(usually at 1-4am), partying too much, pissing away money on material items, making up stories to all my ex's so i can play cards in atlantic city, lying to them so i can hang out with other girls. When did you guys mellow out and find a good woman? I'm starting to hit the age(24-29) where i should be looking for a good girl to marry, but i have zero ambition heh.

i have a interesting story on how i met the wife not sure if anyone wants to hear it, lucky for me my wife is into nascar, only one rule in the house i can do whatever i want with the cars i want all week long as long as i am in the house when the green flag drops for the race on saturday night or sunday afternoons,
as far as the cars go many years ago, i bought a black 89 iroc convert [ she did not know about this purchase] i drove the car home with the top down in december, like 25 out was so happy i owned my first convert or i thought i did, was going to walk into the house to get the woman, not wife yet, her words on the deck as she came out to meet me was ,[ I LIKE THAT CAR , THANK YOU] you can guess the car was now hers, 2 days later i bought a white 91 rs convert from a used car lot, did not know about that car either and was told i was nutz, had here drive me to it to pick it up, did 2 things wrong, couple years later i sold the black iroc convert as well as the white 91 rs convert, i did buy back the white convert 3 months ago hit not to bad, but before that she would talk about that car all the time, the one car i should have never sold was a 92 heritage camaro, she did like the heritage z-28 i had it was red with the black strypes, so i found a red 91 z-28 convert that needs work lots of work i bought a camaro convert as a parts car, i am going to have the car repainted red and put the black strypes on it, even was told i could miss the nascar races to get it fixed up for the summer time, going to start working on it today, want to try and get it running, anyone want pic's

Knipps 01-19-2008 10:36 AM

I was the same way.and I would have stayed that way too because man it was so much fun, but it changed when I met THE girl for me. I was 26. It all just clicked for me.

Rich189 01-19-2008 05:05 PM

I wouldnt say my girl is a car nut but she does like them quite a bit and actually wants a 3rd gen or 4th gen formula. But we've been friends for about 5 years and going out for almost 3 now so she knew about the car thing before dating me

r0nin89 01-19-2008 06:43 PM

If theres ones thing that I've learned after just breaking up with my girlfriend of 6months is that shared interests can actually hurt a relationship sometimes. It only happened a couple weeks ago but I'm slowly realising its for the better (even though I broke up with her).

For a long time I let our compatibility of shared interests like cars, music, etc blur my view on who she actually was and how we worked together. I found myself saying in so many words "I forgave her for that because she likes slayer too, where am I gonna find another girl that likes slayer?"

79CamaroDiva 01-19-2008 11:22 PM

Since my other half is on the couch watching barrett jackson, ill answer it.. we met two years ago through this site, although al says we actually met almost 2 1/2 years ago at atco  but neither of us really remember.. We've been together for about a year, and we share something thats not just an interest in cars, but a psychotic obsession.. i don't think he could find another woman that would go to texas and back in 4 days to tow a car back, or vermont in a blizzard to pick up a truck, and i dont know if i could find another man to tolerate having a girlfriend with a faster car than him, or a propensity for breaking parts quite like i do ;)

car girls are out there, we're not a myth, and we're not spys.. and a lot of girls can at least be converted to enjoy them, so long as they know (or think they know) that the car has its place below them on the totem pole.. any relationship is definitely about compromise and understanding.. we've never faught, there have been problems, but they've been talked about until they were resolved, and the absolute best thing you can do is never lose your cool.. talking things out goes a lot further than yelling and screaming and pointing fingers.

Savage_Messiah 01-20-2008 02:56 AM

Scott... that may just be the best thing evar on teh intarwebs.

yo dude, i am exactly the same way just sub AC for philly bars, concerts and shooting ranges. I'm gonna be 23 in 6 days and have been wondering the same thing. When, if ever, will that perfect girl show up and calm me down?

i just broke up with a gf of 2 years last week who i thought might have been that one but i couldn't have been more wrong(not that i broke up with her because of it but she gave me a really hard time about spending time wrenching on the camaro). now i'm back to square one and it's kinda frustrating.

I do know for a fact that there are car girls out there, i know several of them. unfortunately none of the ones i know are dating material. it would be a rare thing to find THE right one who also shares the automotive interest. the odds just just stacked against us.

don't go by everyone else man. your still young like me. noone says you have to get married in your 20s. many people do and i feel bad for about 90 percent of them. if you want to keep the pleasure of doing what( or who ) you want, then wait to get a gf/wife. i say...enjoy the 20s, get married when your 30...if you get married at all. everyone wants to get married quick...why everyone is in such a rush is beyond me

DaSkinnyGuy 01-20-2008 08:20 PM

Ted after meeting your wife she seems to be the easiest women thats out there. But after reading what you wrote we still dont know how you 2 meet. Just that nascars go in circles and she likes 3rd gen verts that have stripes.
