That is exactly what's driving up the price. Something needs to be done about the damn speculators.

Even if the bill wasn't veto'd, it wouldn't make difference. The scumbag oil companies would just raise prices to offset the cost of the additional tax, so it would only be US who would pay for it anyway.

It doesn't matter who's in office, demotrash or republiscum...the only people any of them care about are themselves and the special interests that fill their pockets. A republiscum is killing us at the national level, and the demotrash are outright robbing us blind at the state level. Pick your poison.

Oil company profits are not soley tied to the production and sale of gasoline. That is actually a very small part. 95% of everything you see and use in daily life is petroleum based. That is where the profit is coming from. Taxing an oil company for gas/energy purposes does not have any relationship to all the plastic stuff that is produced every day. It's not about taking sides, it's about reducing our dependence on oil for everything made from it, not just gas. Dems vs Repubs has nothing to do with our American self centeredness. People have to learn give things up and reduce consumption!

I think the gas prices would be higher IF the bill got passed. Just like my business, when I pay more for something i jack up the prices instantly. Just how it works. We pay what....$3.10 a gallon for super now, after that tax it would be $3.30 a gallon to offset the lose. I'd rather it be veto'd and leave it the way it is, gotta take the lesser of 2 evils.
