Bonzo,
I think the damage has been done, and it has been proven that political threads are gonna end up in a war. I vote "NO" to political threads.

I do too, but I figured I'd offer the only alternative.

I can understand you wanting to be the voice of reason. But I just look at my thread about "Hillary, Yes or No," and how it ran on for 80 gazillion pages when all I was looking for was a one word answer. After the first 5 pages I gave up!

Exactly. When **** like this happens it's our fault for not locking it. But then we get bitched at for locking stuff down.

I was a proponent of allowing the threads on here because they sparked a lot of discussion. And they did. Too bad the personal attacks got out of hand.

Mike 03-20-2008 08:31 AM

i didnt blame the mods, i simply said i begged for all political threads to be locked right off the bat, if thats a lie correct me. i was told at that time exactly what you just said scott, that you guys agreed to try it out.

look what happened in the end.......... IT GOT LOCKED

i have been on one board or another since i got my lisence, and while i know that isnt as long as some of you, its been a lot of boards. in all that time i have NOT ONCE seen a political thread stay civil, peacefull, or clean, and due to that, i have NOT ONCE seen a political thread that didnt get locked.

kudos for giving it a try, now treat them like porn and get rid of them

Savage_Messiah 03-20-2008 02:20 PM

I have nothing but the utmost respect for ANYBODY who serves their country, and have ZERO problems with veterans. My problem is with governments who starts needless wars, and people who back the needless loss of lives.

I'm sorry to see you go, it's never good for such a knowledgeable member to leave.

Another vote for no more political threads.

i just hate how people bitch about politics. join the armed forces, put your life on the line for a bigger cause, and then you can talk...

shane27 03-20-2008 07:01 PM

if your mature enough you can handle a political thread. apparently they have been banned and thats all i need to say.

I agree.

I would love to sit and talk to you john. I have been finding out more and more everyday that there is a military past to my family. A week after I got home from P.I. my grandfather died. At his wake I found out that he was in the Army during Korea. He was a Tank operator. My grandpops on my mothers side was in the Army also, he was a aircraft mech. like I was going to be. MY great grand father on my mothers side was also in the army. he signed in 1917. I have the greatest respect for anyone who serves in the United States military. I tried and it ended up not working out.

Ian 03-20-2008 11:31 PM

John, I really hope you'll find it in you to return to posting regularly here. I have learned a lot from you, I know that its just the tip of the ice burg. I will also say thank you for your service in the armed forces. I truly and deeply appreciate the sacrifice the men and women of the military make. you are what makes America great :usa:

and as a side note, a lot of times, the admins are busy. it happens. if you have a problem, do not hesitate to pm either Bonzo or myself in addition to justin and tim. I know I didnt get any sort of PM's about what had happened, not sure if scott did though. If someone is being a real jack hole, let me know. I love banning people

WHOA WHOA WHOA.... what's PORN got to do with politics... LOL let's not attack porn like that. Sheesh what's this world coming to.

bubba428 03-21-2008 10:25 PM

I'm with Mike, when it comes to politics every one thinks they know better and I just ends up in bad mojo, its always the same people attacking the same people with the same bull crap. NO political threads is the way to go, it would be much more peaceful

Mike was referring to treating political posts like pornographic posts.....deleting them right away.

The mods and I have been discussing this quite a bit thanks to all the recent political activity, and we have decided that the time has come to no longer allow political discussions on this site. As has been stated earlier in this thread, we were hoping that we could trust the members of this site to remain civil towards each other when discussing politics, but obviously that didn't happen.

So from this point forward, we are no longer allowing any political discussions.

Frosty 03-22-2008 09:25 PM

There IS a way to discuss politics in a respectful manner. Unfortunately some people here can't do that without lobbing insults.

John, you can't let this crap get to you, you come off as a very hardcore conservative...and while I agree with a lot of what you say you're not going to MAKE people agree with your point of view. Can you try to get people to look at "the other side"? Sure, can you possible educate them a little? Absolutely, but you're not going to always have people agree with you.

Let them call you a war monger, let them call you every name in the book...but here are two truths. A) **** 'em, let them believe what they want and B) Those popping off at the mouth lobbing insults would NEVER say this crap to you in a face to face discussion. Let them play internet badasses.

This is no reason to leave a site filled with good people.

'tis true, tho, you know they would have more respect in person. or at least keep their tongue quite a bit more civil. or keep their mouths shut.

cooler heads will prevail.

heh, i've never seen anyone with enough balls to call another human being a "war monger" face to face.
