Is there an inspection sticker in the windshield?
- Justin |
yeah there should be a sticker in the lower left hand corner of the windshield. there is a large number, say 3, denoting the month of expiration. the year is across the top in the corners. if you recently purchased the car, you would have received a pink card when you registered giving you approx two weeks to have an inspection.
if you don't have a sticker, go to a private inspection center and have them test it. as long as there is no check engine light, you should be good. no tailpipe test on 96+ cars so no "need" for cats. oh and its over $150 if a cop spots the exp. or lack there of sticker. not cool. |
no inspection fine is 124, 180 is for failure to exhibit docs.(license, registration, or insurance)
whats crazy is the ticket for an unregistered vehicle is only 45... Here is a pic of my pretty little inspection sticker.... yours would be a square though... http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5...rch2008044.jpg |
If you have no sticker, if you ever get pulled over, just play dumb. Oh, I'm in the military, they keep moving me, I didn't realize, yadda yadda yadda. I think if you are polite and mention military you'd likely get away with a warning.

I have to agree with that - being polite and respectful has gotten me out of so many tickets - 3 off the top of my head in the past 3 months where two of the times i can specifically remember the officer saying, "well since you were polite..." |
im not an expert on the inspection situations but i have fake cats on my car but I have a cam in the gas...wouldnt they fail me for noise or anything? i think they would just tell me to turn around and go home before i even get in there lol

"Sniffer" is a common nickname for the emissions test involving a tailpipe probe - not to be a d!ck. :-P - Justin |
Yea it depends on how the engine runs. A alittle 4 cyl car would be worse to try and get inspected without cats. Alot of times if you trick your car into safe mode instead of running with the o2 sensors you can get passed
________ LIST OF TRANSMISSION APPLICATIONS |
My car passed the pipe test back in the day when the cat was gutted....
|
alls i'm saying is an 8 cylinder produces more by-product than a 4 in most cases. i watch emission tests all day long and if an 8 cyl needs a tune up or has a lot of carbon in an egr or something, it fails more often than a 4 banger. anything is possible though. they refurbish equipment that is over 10 years old, half the time it doesn't work correctly, so there is a large gray area to pass in.
and on the actual inspection machine's monitor, it specifically states in all cases, "exhaust probe/sample probe," but i guess it is as much a sniffer as it is a probe. i guess you got me - Justin! haha |
Thats partly casue of the extra cylinders but a v8 is nore efficently internally balanced that a 4 banger. it def depends on how the car was treated and maintained.
________ Drug testing |
find a pair of stray cats, alive or dead doesnt matter, and tie wire them to your exhaust. dont worry about ground clearance, as they will wear down a little and eventually clear the baddest of bumps and dips. youll pass visual

nice....good thinking....also v8s without cats can pass the sniffer test just as easily as a 4 banger can because v8s are allowed a higher level of emissions than 4 bangers, so technically if you think about it, it would be harder for a 4 banger to pass than an 8 because the standards on 4 bangers are usually higher.

Nice! Gotta love the no inspection state!
