yea, that car was nothing but hotness. It looks ten times better in person than in pics. A test drive is required now :D

Yeah I know. They keep the Challenger in front of the old one though, on Salem Street so that I can stare at it while I fill up at the gas station across the street. How thoughtful of them

Some guy snapped this pic locally down in the South (liek florida/georgia/etc south):
http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/upload...;252520006.jpg You guys can NOT tell me this car is worth $80k to you. |

I'm really curious how much the dealers you guys see them at are marking the cars up, especially with Dodge's financial situation. Research experiment anyone?
|
wow 13/18 mpg ratings??? what crap is that?
i figured with displacement on demand or some stuff like that it would be better, my friends charger R/T gets like 26 highway. |

The new RT's will get the 2nd gen Hemi's with the VVT system and better head making 370hp and 408ftlbs of torque. The RT seems like the better buy for now. But the SE and RT wont be available for another month or so. |

Problem is that camshaft. That twin-camshaft design for the VVT set up is gunna pose problems for cam shaft replacement for performance.

i figured as much, alright then, but still...dam... lol
but regardless, i dunno the car just doesnt do it for me, dont get me wrong it is very very nice. I started as a Mopar guy, 1st car a 1973 dodge coronet, but my 88 GTA pulled me away. And that pic of the 2 door charger...sick, id rock that anyday, lol, if it was free. still buying the new camaro though. |
the new camaro fails in comparison to the challenger.
the only reason dodge didnt put any 'creativity' into it is because its exactly what it should be. the challenger never evolved because it was a one generation car. the camaro had 4 generations to evolve into the '5th gen' if you can even call it that. the challenger has done exactly what i have been wishing chevy to do....bring out a retro-rod that recalls their glory days. i want a first gen. dont want to pay 30k for a car that rides like a school bus. if they took a first gen body and updated it like they did the challenger it would own. but they didnt...so the new 'camaro' will end up in the graveyard with the firebird. the fbody died in 02. the '5th gen' should be called the next-gen. fyi....the new camaro is going to be just as heavy as the challenger:wink: |
Quote:
First off, Camaro will be lighter then the Challenger in every way. 2nd, Camaro never "died". It went on hiatus. This would make it teh 5th generation. As for making it look like a First gen...uh, yeah, thats exactly what it looks like. A modern first gen. Handle like a bus? So I assume you have driven it? Or perhaps maybe you should take a look at reviews of teh G8 GT vs the Charger, and the handling of the G8 easily outdoes the Charger in every way. Dont wana spend 30k on a car that handles like a school bus...I suggest NOT getting the Challenger. |
if you re-read my post you would notice this is what was meant...ill clarify
the point of the challenger is for people who want a challenger but cant justify spending the same amount for an old car, but rather a newer car that looks like the old one. its all about creature comforts. i meant the fact that the new camaros arent actually fbodies Quote:
thats the reason i dont consider the new camaro a 5th gen but rather the next-gen. its the first generation of a whole new camaro. much like the way a new beetle isnt a generation of the old beetle in context. the new camaro is going to weigh in close to 4k. its by no means a lightweight contender. as for the looks....i said i would rather have a first gen updated with new technology. Quote:
the 4th generation was the pinnacle of the fbody. the new camaro has first gen similarities but can also say the rear 1/4 looks very corvette to me. the new challenger can stand side by side with the old one and almost look identical. thats what owns about it. i can have the old school mopar look without sacrificing driveability and safety. first gens handle like a school bus. i didnt say the 5th gens. Quote:
you my friend have misread my post. just clarifying for ya  |
Well, you are misreading my post. The Challenger will most deffinatly handle like a school bus compared to Camaro.
While Camaro will not be a light weight fighter, it sure as hell wont be as heavy as the Challenger. So the new Camaro isnt an Fbody because...its not called Fbody? Is the third/4th gen not an fbody becaues its not the same platform? Is the 4th gen not an fbody because it was built in Canada? Is it 5th gen not an fbody because it has IRS? Cause there is no Firebird? I dont get it, Camaro looks like a Camaro from every angle. Front, side, rear, 3/4, top and bottom. Here is the "Clown Car" Camaro clay model design prototype next to VP of Design Ed Welburn's 69 Camaro http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-20...-1600x1200.jpg |
The side of teh Camaro concept we see is the failed design, the other half of the car, the part you cant see, is what the concept turned out to be.
