 thanks dude!

Its funny you say alternative to SUV. When you're driving it, it makes you feel like you're in an SUV, probably because of the driving position mostly, but its actually very small from the outside, incredibly roomy inside, and handles like my damn camaro! It's got an awesome turning radius, unlike the f-bod, and gives you this strange sense of being in a big car thats really not. Oh yeah, and all state insurance considers it a TRUCK. :banghead: wtf?

ya, pretty much. i'm used to it.

SteveR 07-20-2008 10:38 PM

Yea I was really impressed with how roomy it is inside. It looks a little small from the outside, but is really comfortable inside. And the feeling that your in a car with a chopped top is pretty badass.

Since you're just about a full foot taller, thats probably more for you than me  I just feel like I'm driving a cave.

probably my biggest gripe about the saturn was the turning radius. i used to joke in my head that they named it saturn because thats the size of the turning radius (bad joke but it made me chuckle in my head). i wonder if cobalt SS suspension parts would fit in it and make it handle a little better. oh, and just about anything handles better than a stock fbody. ;)

i think they would.. arent they the same car?

Savage_Messiah 07-20-2008 11:30 PM

I could make a joke about rears with that changing suspension business but it'd be too forced.

same frame and drivetrain. but not sure if that would imply the same for suspension. besides, no modding the beater! :)

nice car

LS1Hawk 07-21-2008 07:48 AM

The Cobalt SS has a VERY large turning radius.

JL8Jeff 07-21-2008 07:57 AM

Nice pick! I think you put yourself in a tough situation trying to find that exact combination for a vehicle to serve your purposes. Glad you were able to find something that fits and it's even better when you really like the car/truck/suv or whatever it's called. Insurance probably calls it a truck to jack up the rates. What does dmv consider it, a car/wagon I hope to keep registration cheaper than a truck.

Mike 07-21-2008 08:12 AM

i dunno jeff, my trailblazer is considered a "wagon" by dmv and my insurance company, i think they only go by gross vehicle wieght

The Fixer 07-21-2008 08:25 AM

Nice buy Melissa, the SOM looks sweet on the HHR! I like those cars a lot; they have plenty of room for gear and/or kids, and the gas mileage is a definite bonus. If I could justify buying something new now, that would be at the top of my list.

BigAls87Z28 07-21-2008 08:26 AM

It has a flat loading floor, its a truck. Same goes with Magnum and the PT. Its how the Automakers got around certain CAFE rules before.
