They are quite safe.... I have seen a lot of crash test video's at work. But, there are always limitations on a smaller car.

We had a bunch of them at work a couple years ago when mb was considering selling them.

I drove both a gas and diesel version here and they were a blast to drive.

I hope a turbo diesel one comes here.... but I've seen info for a hybrid one coming.

I'd rock one

Yep, my wife and I were there for our honeymoon 6 years ago and they are ALL over the place! We saw some pretty wild ones on the roads there.

:werd: If I lived in lower Manhattan or some other extremely crowded space where parking is a nightmare, I'd consider it. Otherwise, they make no sense. Imagine driving a Smart car 70mph down the Turnpike next to a tractor trailer!

Only reason why I'd have a SmartCar is if I owned one of those luxury RV's with the mini garage in the back, so I can get around the local area while camped with the RV.

Friend has one sitting in his shop, said it's the biggest P.O.S. he ever worked on. Every time they order parts they get the wrong part, takes multiple tries. Recently the welds broke and muffler fell off. That's what it's currently waiting for. I like the way you change the oil, there isn't a drain plug; you have to siphon it out the dipstick tube?

I'll take this smart car just for the hell of it. It should make a quick trip to the store interesting. :wink:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5S1NAMnYKM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPQIi...eature=related - I think this is what's in the Smart that Featherburner posted - it's got a Hayabusa motor in it!

if it looks small there, my friend has a 05 dodge ram 2500 mega cab diesel.....yeah just to put it in size perspective i lined my jeep wrangler bumper to bumper, then put my bros jeep wrangler behind mine and we were only about a foot longer than the ram...imagine a smart car next to that truck.
