I HATE it when people but fences around their cars at car shows.

I ALSO hate it when people bring ALL their trophies from previous shows.

Guess what..... a little fence is going to do nothing.... worse things can happen when driving the car to and from the car show?!?!?!

And the trophy thing???? Are they that pathetic and insecure that they need to bring ALL of them???

Hell, I have a hell of a lot of trophies (mostly from racing) and there is NO way in hell I would bring them.

The above 2 reasons automatically makes me NEVER vote for cars like that. I would cast a vote for a rusted POS before I would vote for a fenced in car w/ lots of trophies around it.

"I ALSO hate it when people bring ALL their trophies from previous shows." A big peeve of mine too

Guys like the one that wrote the letter are why I hate going to car shows, and would rather go to a cruise night and sit around and BS about cars and look at the craftsmanship, with no awards to win. Personally, I also don't see the joy in owning something that has 305 trophies and needs a force field around it to protect it. :) Damn, get out there and drive the car, that's what it was built for! I applaud guys like camaroracer1992; he's got a show-quality 10-second car, and enjoys wailing on it at the track instead of letting it be a garage ornament.

camaroracer1992 09-25-2008 11:52 AM

thanks tpi monte. i really appreciate it alot. i do alot of local shows so i dont know if you can classify me as a show fag but as you said the car runs like a mo'fo'. i dont have 305 trophies like that clown but i have got alot recently how i had the car redone.do i go to shows expecting to win, no. I'm the guy thats always like "im not winning ****" and then i am happy if i win something. Only time i get pissed at a show is if literally a POS were to win, but in the case of a participant show you are fighting a popularity/majority of what people like show not proffesional judged. I have had people say my car is trailered, and yes to some shows like the nats i do or when i race it, but its only because its cheaper to trailer it and i dont want to risk damaging a race motor.

i hate people that take all the trophies to shows too i think its gay.

the worse thing about those fences is if a kid starts swinging on them like an ape that will go right into the car causing more damage then the owner though a handprint or fingerprint would cause.

chemicalstylez 09-25-2008 12:22 PM

People are funny. Sure at a club show people always vote for their buddies thats a given(but this doesn't sound like a club show). But who cares??? People get so bent out of shape over trophies. I just go to check out some cool cars, steal some ideas and leave ha. And as for trophies... i hate the people that put them in front of their car, its just....lame. My few from car shows are collecting dust in my garage lol. And 2 of them are ladies choice :D. Back to your point though, I'd just try to ignore that. You run a show that pulled in 200 CARS!!! Thats a great turnout for something local.

BonzoHansen 09-25-2008 12:23 PM

I hate those freaking little kid dolls too. And fake drive-in stuff - WTH is it a car or a diorama?

Hahah some people really have too much time on their hands.

I'll admit a lot of times when I go to car shows I enjoy winning trophies....I put a lot of hard work into my cars and it's rewarding. One thing I've learned is that you can never take trophies seriously at a show that's popular vote. Way too many variables like friends, people who have no idea what they're looking at, etc. Now at a judged show I'll take exception to losing out to cars I know aren't better than mine. It's happened and it's peeved me, but you get over it because once again....people are idiots haha. Now don't get me wrong....I KNOW there are cars out there better than mine and I have no problem admitting it. There's also many different styles and that can make it difficult to judge as well. Unless you are at an unbiased show with a strictly based points system of judging, don't take it that seriously. Plus....what the hell do you do with 305 trophies?

Oh and as for keeping them all around your car at a show.....lame! Maybe if it's like The Riddler or a Corvette Blue Ribbon (think that's what they call it)....then it's ok.

And the fake little kids...they used to creep my ex-girlfriend out....she wanted to go up and kick them!

How about the cars with the model cars spinning on top of their air cleaners, now that's a trophy winner!! (hope I didn't offend anyone).

BonzoHansen 09-25-2008 04:07 PM

I always want to slam the hood down on them

Now, keep in mind, this is the car we THINK it is. It was the ONLY car there that had stantions around it. You couldn't get within 5-10 feet of the car to judge it properly.

http://thumb0.webshots.net/t/69/569/...0aczYez_th.jpg

wow, stantions, really  someones ego is bigger then the space he took up with that car. The rims are atrociously too big for it, and it looks like he went through a Jegs magazine and picked up anything in it that was chrome.

mc73nova 09-25-2008 08:27 PM

That is sad. Blown69rat is 100% right how can you accurately judge a vehicle if you can't get near it. Also, I thought the point of a car show was to let everyone enjoy what you built, not build it and make a barrier a round it.

I brought mine to it's first car show at the Chatterbox on Saturday (trailered it) and didn't even care to enter. I was just happy I finally had it there, I was always hated the fact that every time I went I didn't bring mine. I met some new people and the fact that people complimented my car was enough for me, considering it isn't a very popular model year.

If he does read this board, I want him to know he is a LOSER!

blown69rat 09-26-2008 05:21 PM

I've been asked to set the record straight. Apparently, the gentleman with the orange 69 Camaro that is pictured a few pages ago and the one that people think is the one who wrote the letter, did NOT write the letter. My apologizes to that gentleman.

Pro90rscam 09-26-2008 06:22 PM

Wow with that being said, I thought for sure it was the owner of that car.
At the show that day I do not remember any other car there that could have been a 2 time national winner. Or was it just another person trying to start a bad rumor???????????
Damn, and all that stuff said about that guy to.

JL8Jeff 09-26-2008 06:37 PM

Is that guy on this board? I've never seen that car at any meets or shows.

blown69rat 09-26-2008 06:43 PM

jl8-I couldn't honestly answer that question.

Don-I posted the letter, that was it. There were others that were saying the same thing as you. I received a phone call from "someone" to tell me it was not him. I never put the blame on him, I was only following what was said to me. I am just "clearing the air" (as the saying goes). I have a copy of the letter, but I believe when I put the letter on a few boards, there were some that immediately said it was him for this reason or another.

I am almost certain he is not a member of this sight. I have been to lots of shows over the years and that was the first time I have ever seen that car.
I have done indoor, large events, etc. and never ran across this car until a couple of weeks ago. That sucks that most of us thought he was the one that made the comment and then you find out he was'nt.

slo, are you talking about the grammar in the letter or something else??

Frosty 09-27-2008 09:29 AM

No, I think he was talking about the person that wrote the letter.

QFT.

funny how this subject always seems to come up. me thinks people take this stuff too seriously. blow it off. if the guy shows up next year, he won't win a trophy, and you'll have another year to rant about it, because he will undoubtedly write you another letter..

skip the rant.
