we can argue tint all day long, there is nothing specific in title 39 codes about it. 39:3-75 is whats usually written, or the statue for obstruction of veiw or unapproved equipment.
all tint websites say rear windows and back window can be tinted any percent in NJ, front and windsheild can't have anything. my ss hatch is tinted and i got pulled over alot, other stuff, and nothign was ever said about it. now i roll by cops in my sky with sides and back all 5% and nothing, im not worried about it. i did the doctors note thing for my 95 STS caddy, worked a decent amount. as fort he other stuff... 12 tickets aint nothing... i have over 50, and only 4 were moving violations in the past 11 years. like every one says pay to play. you cant get out of any ticket for the mos part especially equipment violations by just talking to the officer appropriately. heck, onc ei got pulled over for inspection(had a rejected sticker from oct, it was now july) i didnt have my DL, insurance or registration with me, and the cop asked for any type of id, i showed him a ticket i got for the inspection just a week earlier, had my DL number on it , lol. he found it funny and just told me to take the car home. that was in a town known for writing bs tickets and this was before i knew members of law enforcement. be smart, be courteous, and be prepared to write out a few checks every year... lol |

Yes .. Paul is right.
Anything from the cab foward (windshield and two side windows), is illegal to tint in NJ. Anything behind the driver (rear glass and rear side windows if applicable) is legal to go as dark as you want. You could probably paint them black if you want. |

gee, there's something to be proud of
If you knew you were in a condition to get in trouble then you know you shouldn't have been driving. Call a cab, family member, or a sober friend next time. Getting home isn't important enough to risk your life or everyone else's over. Under the influence covers a lot of ground. If you go out and have 2 beers you are under the influence. Like no one else has ever gone out and had a few beers and DROVE home. |
