Very true, but if the ticket is only like $50, I may think twice before putting the plat on. I may just put it on my air deflector and mount it high enough that it wont scrape too much. I've seen a few people do that over on tech and it would help deflect more air into my FTRA.

black95maro on here is my buddy and did that, they got him :p

lol ya those cops use to love it my 86 trans am back when i was in highschool with the open headers. but this 82 mustang use to get their attention away from me i dont know how many tickets that kid got during the year

Keep the plate in your car (not in the dash) along with some sort of document showing you have paid for, and are waiting for the SLP bracket and you should be fine. $54 sounds about right if you decide to go no front plate at all. I would also not put it on the front lower air damn.

Slow96LT1 11-13-2008 09:23 AM

my front plate is wedged between the passenger seat and the center concole on my camaro and the one for my dd is M.I.A
the ticket is $54.00 got alot of them

V 11-13-2008 11:35 AM

plate must be mounted at a certain height, i had mine on my air dam, VERY low in my car. got told a few times to fix it, no tickets. i have 2 l tabs to the side off center of my SS grille where i can mount it, but now i just run only the back plate. i dont get bothered anymore either. it all really depends on the driver as th wether or not ur getting a ticket for it.

JW 11-13-2008 11:59 AM

Somehow I have gotten lucky and never gotten pulled over or a ticket for not having my front license plate on... :???: haven't put on since I bought the car over 5 or 6 years now. *knocks on wood*

i cant find my front plate. i just tell the cops that someone stole my slp grille off the front along with the plate and dmv never did anything about it. works everytime.

ar0ck 11-13-2008 05:34 PM

Going on 4 years without a front license plate. I've gotten out of many other tickets because of it, and would take a $54 tint or license plate ticket over speeding any day of the week. Just go to home depot and pick up some peices of aluminum and some self tapping screws and be done with it.

If your real anal drill underneath the bumper where it isn't visible and use wing nuts so you can easily remove it for car shows or photos.

DevilDougWS6 11-13-2008 09:27 PM

we get TWO plates?!?!

ive been running without mine for a while. no one bothered me yet ::knock on wood::

but putting it in your window is not a good idea at all. you can get MORE tickets for that (obstruction of view). better to go without it.

Thats the key, if your going to run with no plate, then run with NO Plate.dont put it in your window:twisted:

most useless law in NJ ever. I drove for almost 5 years without the front plate and only got a ticket this past summer when state trooper on 280 was bored and decided to pick me out of thousands of cars to pull over. I see people with no front plates all day long, expired inspection, not driving in rain storms with lights on, talking on cell phones, its ridiculous that they get to pick and choose who to pull over and give BS tickets to.

Just put the plate on because eventually they will be in a bad mood and give you a ticket to stroke their egos.

Still wouldn't be legal mounted there. IMO, if you aren't going to put it on the front bumper, then leave it at home. No reason to put it somewhere else and draw an officer's attention to it there.

NJ DMV (MVC) site does not have the code on it and I cant seem to find it but last time I saw this is not true. There were only 3 stipulations for front plates, Front of vehicle, clearly visible and not above a certian height? Left a lot of room for "wiggle" there was someone at E-town that had the plate mounted on the front air dam, he said he would get pulled over for it a lot so he carried a copy of the code with him and there was nothing an officer could say to dispute it. He showed me the copy

During the time between the application for vehicle registration and the receipt of license plates, no person shall affix a plate or marker designed to resemble the license plates for the purpose of advertisement in the position normally reserved for the license plates.

No plate on my Solstice since June and have had no problems. I would never drill holes in my bumper and destroy the beauty of my baby.

creeper 11-16-2008 09:20 PM

i ran my plate in my window for a month before inspection no problems. i've had it completely off for about 2 months now no problem and i spend 90% of my time driving through a town that has written tickets for 2mph over and called for backup when me and my friends got pulled over for razor scootering.

The one on the Solstice attaches to the grille and with double sided tape to the bumper cover, no need to worry about holes :D

Little G 11-17-2008 06:30 PM

Even if it attached with a diaper, I wouldn't put it on there. The Solstice front end just has no good spot for a license plate.

 Yes I agree it looks horrible on that car

NJ346 11-17-2008 07:07 PM

Well the car was dropped off at the body shop today. I'm having them put the black plastic camaro grill on the car and I'm going to order the decals from WS6store so camaro stands out. I specifically told the body shop to not put the license plate bracket on the car, so lets see how this turns out. The car will be done by friday so I'll post up pics of when its done.

I am surprised the cop gave you business after showing all your creds.

That's just plain rude.

Cops by me are real cool as long as you are a local they won't ticket you.
