ive always wanted one but never really found a place to buy one. just one to bring to the beach and stuff for kicks lmao

tastyle88 12-04-2008 11:45 PM

WHEN i worked for the town i made lots of extra$$$$ on stuff i took home. computers and laptops were a big hit. even found cash once and a while, jewelry was popular too

firehawk1120 12-05-2008 06:40 AM

Don't get me wrong I know that some people throw out good things, but outside of a scrap man who collects this stuff in a huge truck what purpose do bent metal poles serve anyone? LOL I mean the frigging fence had bushes and tree limbs growing through it for christ sake.

If I have something usable but I don't want and think it's too much of a hassel to sell even at a yard sale I'll put it on free cycle or in front of house with a take me I work sign.

As for the comment about your garbage is up for grabs if it's on the curb that isn't true. Until the garbage men come and take it away it technically is still yours people have no right to go through it. If I'm not mistaken I heard of a crime where the evidence was thrown away and the cops looked through the garbage without a warrant and the evidence was dismissed on a technicality.

Thanks, If it was illegal I don't think there'd be people running around making a livelihood off it ;)

Playing devil's advocate here, but people make a living off selling illegal drugs :nod:. Just because it's illegal doesn't mean people won't do it.

yes, but is there not a govt program to combat those sorts of people? :-P
and while you might say "but that would be a waste of money" there are people who feel the same about the war on drugs.

a=e
m=n

Assuming you're talking about case 2. The evidence was refused under different circumstances..
I.) they didn't wait for it to be put on the curb.
II.) they followed a tip like 5 months later

Quote:

In the second case, the state police examined the garbage of Conrad and Sharon Hempele outside their home in Belvidere in Warren County. The trial court found the search unconstitutional because a trooper picked up the trash right outside the residence before it had been placed at the curb. The garbage contained residue of marijuana and cocaine.

The Appellate Court also ruled the search unconstitutional, but for a different reason. The tip that the police acted on in this case was received in January 1986, but the garbage was not searched until June. The court said the six-month-old tip was not enough to overcome the Hempeles' reasonable expectation of privacy for their garbage.

Actually in most places you dont actually own about 20 feet of your property from the curb. Hence the reason people are allowed to walk on a sidewalk on your property and the reason you are forced to maintain the sidewalk on your property. Something along those lines anyway, in Hillsborough they widened the road I used to live on and my grandparents couldnt do anything about it

NastyEllEssWon 12-05-2008 09:26 PM

at every job ive worked at we had scrappers come and pick up all the metal we threw out back...radiators....supports...doors...whatever have you....just think...those poles were just a score for them on the way to pick up a boatload of metal at those types of shops that are just happy to get rid of the garbage for free.

they make some good bucks.

and gas is cheap now
