Yup, and the bridge by the power plant, where its like a 35 or 45mph zone, psh, Ive never seen anyone do that speed on that bridge, especially out of staters goign to Wildwood or O.C., and every so often when I'm coming down that bridge, theres a S.T. sitting in the grass median waiting to tag ya coming over it. your so used to doing the 55-65 zones, you dont realize it.

If you're driving around with an open cutout that is plain silly.

I haven't closed my cutout in 7 months

I couldn't agree more. Back when I was 17 I always drove fast in my z until I learned that driving was a privilege and that I could seriously hurt someone with my vehicle. There is no need to be going 30+ the posted speed no matter who is driving behind you. I don't know the circumstances, but 30+ and a PBA card your not getting off with just a no front plate with me. Is it a family members card? If that's the case that officer would be receiving a call. Also IMO radar detectors can only hurt your chance of not receiving a summons..

Are you really gonna defend what he did? Jeff is in the complete right of saying that, do you really think that someone would comeon here, and tell us about them doing 30+ and us feeling bad and backing him up? you only have about 30 some posts here, so newb, before you shoot your mouth off at Jeff, understand not only has he been on this site longer then you, but it seems hes ALOT wiser then you as well.

I have a cobra radar detector. The thing sucks, it's better at detecting store alarms than anything. But you kind of get to know where the cops usually are in your town and normal driving routes. I try and blend into traffic, especially as a 20 year old kid in a loud f-body. In high school I racked up a total of 8 points, thinking I was the man because I would get pulled over constantly. Now I realize how stupid I was. I just use my radar to make sure I'm within the limit range now. All of that fine money could have went into something much better.

CamaroGirlie 12-28-2008 09:35 AM

My freshman year at Willy P I was driving home on the Parkway in my BMW 735i. I got pulled over doing 103 in a 55 my radar never went off because the officer was behind a brick wall. When I got pulled over I refused to give him my pba card cuz I knew I was wrong. But luckily, when I went to court (woodbridge) my father (lawyer) talked the prosecuter into 50 in a 35. Back then, it was only an $80 fine. Can't complain about that. Lol. Don't speed like that anymore tho lol

which one is it? were you messing with a friend or afraid of getting run off the road, if it was the latter, just move over next time and let the moron go, then laugh and wave when you pass him pulled over in 5 minutes. if it was the former, you now know better.

everyone f***s up, the point is to learn from it and move on. so as long as you can tell yourself you learned from it, and you can deal with whatever happens, then you are better off from it

Thanks Mike for understanding. I had just turned in the right lane because I had thought the neon was a cop because he had come up so fast. I don't get everyone on here. I didn't post up to get harassed like I'm a 2 year old, I posted up because I knew I was in the wrong and that I got lucky. I'm not just some punk ass 17 year old with a Z28, I paid for it, I did all the mods to it, and 99% of the time I respect the law. Everyone needs to stop acting like they drive the speed limit and never got stopped.

being on a site and posting doesnt mean your wiser just means u have more to say second im not a newb at all if the kid did 30 over let him learn from his mistakes i actually happen to know how he drives and hes not a bad driver he sped and got in trouble for it. if he was racing someone i wouldve torn into him too. lay off the kid im sure you do the speed limit everywhere u go too right? fail

vinnie everyones just trying to pick on you cause your young and the people on this site have nothing better to do then "respect and enforce" the law. i know your a good driver or else i wouldnt be backing you up on this

creeper 12-28-2008 01:53 PM

i have the cheapest cobra detector they make and it does it's job. usually picks up radar before i come over hills. i normally don't drive more than 5 or 10 over anyway, but i'd rather be doing the speed limit when i pass cops.

i just turned 18, have 4 PBA's and a trans am with no front plate or turn signals and i have yet to be pulled over

BigAls87Z28 12-28-2008 01:56 PM

Meh, you're 17, you will do things like this.
Doesnt matter if you are an ******* driver or someone who obeys teh law.
Im not one to talk. I clicked off 12 points in 6 months, and I know there are people in here worse then that. Doesnt make them a bad person or anything like that.

As far as radar detectors go, my old 6 band Cobra did well when I had it turned on, and I actually listened too it. Coming home from Indy this year, the Laser signal went right off, and I hit the brakes instantly. The cop actually pulled me over for doing 50 in a 65 and in the left lane. No tickets.

Back to getting this on topic...
I have noticed that most NJ Staties use the old X band guns? Everytime I go past one sitting on the road, X band beeps. And they usually leave it on all the time, so I would get warrnings over a mile away. I have noticed some K/Ka stuff, but have yet to see a Statie with a laser gun? Both times I was hit with laser, it was in Ohio.
Locals seem to use more K/Ka brand guns.

And speaking of which, my new detector I picked up worked great in the 2-3 weeks I had it in my 87, but now that its in the Caprice, it sends out laser signals all the time, on and off every 30 sec or so...dunno what that is about.

SRGN 12-28-2008 01:59 PM

I've been driving over 17 years without a radar detector. When a LEO sees your detector on the dash, it just screams "I always speed and don't want to get caught".

My radar detector is in the very top corner of the windshield, you can't see it from looking at the front of the car. The cop was on the passenger side the whole time and never really took a good look inside the car so I'm almost 100% sure he didn't know I had a radar detector. Also when I was pulled over it was still not going off. I got pulled over by a local cop in the summer and when I was pulled over he had left the radar gun on and my detector was pinned so idk if that means that this statie was shooting laser.

miketa95 12-28-2008 03:24 PM

I leave mine on the dash, I just unplug it once I get pulled over. No cop has ever said anything about it to me.

BS, he didn't learn anything because he got off without getting any tickets. :| 30 mph over the speed limit will get him or someone else killed. This is why our insurance in NJ is so high. You guys need to learn before you kill someone. And there is no reason to have a radar detector if you drive like a normal human being.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your making this into an age argument. Did you forget about the other person in the neon that was clocked doing 89 and didn't get pulled over? I got pulled over because along with the other guy I was speeding, but I also was in a sports car.

Btw, I'm pretty sure a camaro wasn't designed to tow a boat(pretty sure I've seen pics of you doing this with your ss:shock:). This is also very unsafe and can kill someone.(/argument)
