Just don't make the mistake of reporting last year's $600 stimulus check as income since it shouldn't taxable. I think I'm getting around $1400 back this year as they overtaxed some of my stock options I cashed in.

Turbotax asked for the information, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't included in the income section. I think it was used for verification that it was me/us filling out the stuff.

No, the new stimulus package is bumping it from 7,500 to 8,000 and nixing the repayment, turning it into a true credit. Trust me - I've been on top of it :)

Just an FYI, I just read that you had to have purchased after Jan 1st, 2009 to get the new tax credit. Otherwise, you're still under the old credit, which has to be repaid.

Yea, I just read that too, about an hour ago. Bummer :(

News articles and other things I read over the weekend made it sound like it was gonna be retroactive back to April, to cover the other credit.

A lot of people are pissed about it. Someone closed on Dec 22...missed it by about a little more than 2 weeks...and what about us non-first time home buyers? Why can't we get an incentive for buying in the crappy market?
