As much as I am a fan of Trans Ams, these aftermarket kit cars will never be one. They are just Camaros, which is why I don't understand those spectators cheering in the video...if they are Trans Am owners/fans they should know that. Maybe something officially licensed by GM for the aftermarket, or perhaps designed by GM designers would be more legit. But I'm happy with mine and if I want another, I'll go out and buy one.

i like it. needs a little more tlc in the design department, but I like where this is going.

every trans am owner also understands that their birds really are just camaro's with body kits

by the way....it can really be called a trans am because gm doesnt own the name. all the bodykit company has to do is pay royalties per kit for the name and bam TRANS AM

thunder 08-30-2009 03:10 PM

it looks fine. not really different

mc73nova 08-30-2009 03:18 PM

The new Camaro's look awesome, that looks like $h!t. The 5th gen is aimed at looking like a 1st gen that these people tried making into a 2nd gen, WTF! Tell them to stop ruining cars!

EDIT: Better looking bodies. ;) Nothing like driving around a fish!

I kind of like that design.

iroc86NJ 08-30-2009 07:03 PM

Wow the rear of that "Thing" looks horrible.

Will they sell you that thing if you don't have a Mullet?

Firebird67dude 08-30-2009 07:16 PM

I like it.

HeadlessNorseman 08-30-2009 07:38 PM

I would take it. I like the front a lot more than the camaro...idk what it is exactly. Nice car overall

Think its a lame attempt to mullet out a 5th gen camaro w/ 3rd gen ta parts.

Frosty 08-30-2009 08:44 PM

What does a 3rdgen have to do with this

BurninrubberGT 08-30-2009 10:09 PM

if they are going to do it it needs to be 100% rebodied not just bits and pieces....its complete **** and drags the trans am's name in the dirt IMO

now if they stripped the car and rebuilt it, then id give it a shot

BonzoHansen 08-30-2009 10:12 PM

LOL, you act like the TA or firebird has been a different car, but no, it was always a rebadged Camaro...especially the 3rd & 4th gens.

When they had Pontiac engines, they were different cars. For example, you couldn't get a Ram Air IV on a '69 Camaro, or a 455 SD on a '74 Camaro, which BTW the Trans Am was the fastest American-production car that year. The first Chevy engine didn't show up in a Firebird until 1980, but even then you could still get the 301. Yes, they shared the same framework and structure. But for the better part of two generations, they weren't just re-badged Camaros.

Blacdout96 08-31-2009 07:18 AM

455 sd ftw.

sweetbmxrider 08-31-2009 07:22 AM

front and side isn't bad. wheels are cool. rear is ****

btownws6 08-31-2009 04:30 PM

not bad i kinda like it

ljstella 08-31-2009 09:48 PM

Golden Honeycomb Wheels are the ssshhheeett

edpontiac91 08-31-2009 10:20 PM

Nice crowd reaction, but once I saw the rear it was :barf:. The wheels are really sharp, the air vents in the front fender were done right, but the old style hood scoop really dated it. Maybe the 1982-92 Formula hood would have looked more modern, but the front grill still looked like a Camaro. OK effort that I would def drive, but it has a love it or hate look to it.
