I don't know of any law that states you cannot warn oncoming traffic of an officer's presence. I do know that there is a statute against flashing high beams at oncoming traffic (N.J.S. 39: 3-58), but I don't know of one that specifically says you can't warn others about a cop ahead. I was always told it can be considered "obstruction of justice" or something if you warn oncoming traffic of the presence of an officer by any means.

yeah, I just read up on some stuff, and peopel waved, or gave some indication, and said it was obstruction of justice, or interfering with police work, and what not, if they don't get you on one thing, I'm sure they'll find somethign else to hit you on.

I got saved twice from people flashing me about hidden cops. So I always return the favor.

And its def 100% illegal. But really, who cares.

A LEO has already posted in the thread saying that warning oncoming drivers is not illegal...however flashing your high beams (regardless of the purpose) is illegal.
