Timing can only be controlled through PCM or an MSD opti. Opti is fixed to camshaft, and unless he jumped a tooth on the timing set, I doubt thats at fault.

He wouldn't be the first to install an opti wrong.

i run platinum 4 on mine cant gap them but they are awesome. better gas mileage and i find them to be reliable.

i did all new tr-55's gapped at .035 because the car could barely run today, it felt like it was only running in a couple cylenders. changing them helped a little. i suspect the fuel injectors need attention. unplugging an injector while idling didnt really effect it so thats definatly needing attention, i'll pull off the fuel rail and injectors tomorrow to take a look

Well, are your wires in good condition?

Borrow a noid light and check for signal to all injectors. Check fuel pressure.
