Yea I hear ya....just thought it would have more in it 1/4 mile wise. Acceleration down low is close to the LT4..I did a quick search and the fastest time I saw was a 12.8...id still prefer a LS2/6 :) . I always preferred how fast u get there as opposed to top speed.
|
they were able to get close to 500 hp out of the lt5 and still have great street manners. that in a 3000lb vette = mid tens
|
Not a question of overall performance. It's a rare motor. Like a ZL-1, or a 302, or a Mark II big block.

I like on the cars when they had the "valet" key for normal and MAX power. LOL |
yeah it ran 12.9...at over 125mph. that MPH tells you something about the driver

it's like buying one of the re-cast ZL1 motors. it's not about performance, it's about popping the hood and showing it off. not everything can be judged by how well it performs. if you compare the "WOW!" factor of having that motor in your car with the balls out performance of a stock 572 big block moving a 3000 lb street car down the quarter, then they are equal. in a case where someone asks, would you pay $xx,xxx for something, it is all subjective and based on opinion only. throwing hard facts out there is not likely to sway someone who wants to have a one of one. |
I never heard of LT5 till now is there anything else beside LT1 - LT4 - LT5??
|
Lotus and GM had a switch off, Lotus doingthat, and when Lotus designed there GT1 car, they chose to run the LT5 in it, but it wasent powerful and reliable enough to race against McLaren F1, or the Porsche GT2's, and had a lack luster performance to say the least, but it's one of the sexiest looking lotus's, and it was known for it's American deep bellow rumbling down the track, just like the Panoz GTR-1 and LMP1-R's.
