that will never happen, they stopped making them with the ps2 function because of the cost to make it with it, they wouldnt of been able to drop the prices with it. an update would not make a ps3 able to read ps2 games

You should try out a couple games on a backwards compatable PS3 before you get one. Was playing PS2 guitar hero on PS3 and it was really glitchy. Froze a couple times too. You'd be better off keeping the PS2 if its only for one game. Get a couple PS3 games and you'll forget they ever made a PS2

There are a couple really good PS2 games that I'm sure won't come out for the PS3 because of development costs, like NHRA: Countdown to the Championship, and Monster Jam.

Get a Blu Ray player and keep your PS2 or Get a 360 and call it a day. I have had 2 PS3's A 20 gig that was backwards compatable which broke in 90 days and now my 40 gig which is not backwards compatable. I use it for a DVD player. Back when I got it the BR players were still expensive but now you can pick one up for 125.00 ( BR player). So in essence you can get a BR player and a Xbox 360 for 350.00 then you would have the best game system and a great dvd player. Besides all of the reasons I got a PS3 ( Metal Gear solid, FF, silent hill, Resident evil, GTA) Have all been out on the 360 now or will when they come out next year.

My bad MGS Games from now on will be realised on Xbox the same day it comes out on Playstation. I have MGS4 or had it on PS3 but from now on will get them on Xbox because it is a better gaming system. same with FF. Oh and I have given up on GT5. That was another reason to get a PS3 but I am convinced that the game will not come out anytime soon and I am content with Forza and the up coming Test Drive Unlimited 2 on the 360.

The fact is Xbox still has its big hitters and the PS3 is loosing all but a couple of its.. GT, God of War are really the only other games I care to own on the PS3. There is a reason why the PS3 is still in last place by almost 10 million units!! I mean when there is more people on Xbox live then there are who own PS3's there is a problem.

Which games are "better" is a pretty subjective topic, it all depends on what a particular person likes. So that's not even worth debating.

That rumor about MGS has been around ever since, well I guess ever since xbox came out.. Hell they even made their own knock off version, splinter cell (which is on PS3).

Um it is no rumor. I guess you missed the E3 this year. Kojomi ( Or whatever his name is ) confirmed that MGS will be on 360 the same time it is coming on PS. You can go on the XBL marketplace and check out the preview of MGS 5 Rising Coming late next year.


And according to this thread the person likes PS2 games which he cant play on the PS3. I am just offering other options since I was a PS2 gamer who purchased a PS3 and was really dissapointed in it.

He's just too lazy to buy the same game which will look better. And if he gets an xbox that will hardly allow him to play his old ps2 games on it, so that's a waste (I know you said he can keep ps2 in addition to buying a blue ray < -- holy shelf cluster****). And just because you were "disappointed" by whatever doesn't mean that ps3 is somehow inferior. The whole x is better than y is tiring, I hate stupid console fanboys.

Yea controllers are love or hate type of thing on both systems. Usually if you like xbox controllers you will hate ps3 controllers, reverse also applies.

buttons are in the same place on the 360...i actually like the weight of the 360 controller over the ps3....and its a little bit more ergo for the hands.....i always thought nintendo made the best controllers...outside of the gamecube...:lol:

I love it. Fanboys. I own a 360, Wii, and PS3 and I am a fanboy!! I talk **** on systems because I own all 3 of the new ones. If I were a Xbox Fanboy I wouldnt have a PS3 or WII.. What I love is Fanboys who talk **** on systems that they dont own!!

Are those actual size? :rofl: One of the reasons for my original dislike of the xbox was it's humongous controller, one could kill babies with that thing. But that's just personal preference.

Tsar - 360 can run on rechargable pack or AAs. 360 controller IS smaller than the original Xbox. Even MS made smaller controllers for the original after a while.
