Yeah I've done two camaro auto to manual swaps one in an 86 Iroc and The other in a 93 z28

It seems like you already had your mind made up when you asked

sweetbmxrider 12-16-2009 02:28 PM

4l80 don't bitch out now!

Featherburner 12-16-2009 04:21 PM

The question is...can you shift?

Stupercharged 12-16-2009 04:25 PM

I can. And it was sorta made up when I asked but idk im still unsure its like one of those flip a coin deals

sweetbmxrider 12-16-2009 04:34 PM

it really depends how committed you are to an auto right now i guess. cause you have to give up your harness, computer, cross member, flywheel, pedals, shifter, center console, and obviously trans. then you have to correctly install and wire up for a t56. clutch safety switch, speedo, reverse lights etc. i would also consider what gears are in the rear and if the bottom end is internal or external balanced. so, what do you want and how committed are you? i mean if you really want to shift, go manual valve body!!

I dont mind giving it up seeing half is out the car and who needs a clutch safety switch pshh lol. the rest of the wiring is all basic things. My 3.73s will be fine for gears, but when i upgrade the axel i'd be more prone to get 4.10s. Also its a stock bottom end and I will have a stock gm flywheel on the car if i go manual and I will also see if they used a different balencer. Everything else basically is set up to accept a manual, i just have to cut the hole in the tunnel.

x2 Go with the 4L80e

do whatever your little heart desires

Kat 12-19-2009 09:32 AM

Leave the car an auto and then buy another one thats a stick.. Best of both worlds! :D

If it's an auto, leave it that way.The money you were gonna spend on the swap will pay for alot of gas. If you don't like your trans look into one of the new 6 speed autos or add a Gear Vendors overdrive unit to your existing trans.
