That aveo's badass!

Regal is on SWB Epsilon 2, the 2nd generation Epsilon that sits under cars like the current Malibu, Saturn Aura, Saab 9-3, Pontiac G6, Opel/Vaux. Vectra.
LaCrosse is on LWB Epsilon 2. So will the upcoming Cadilliac XTS and Chevy Impala. Bigger cars, more like G8 in size.
EP2 is a FWD/AWD platform.

yeah i bet it is, i dunno i would prob test drive it and see. im used to the old 4 cyls of the early 90's that had no pick up and just sucked in general.


i hate gm. they are coming out with too many cars that i would buy but cant afford any right now and when i can i really want the camaro but its hard now. jerks. about damn time they are doing something right.

That Buick is awesome, however anyone I mention it to says "Buicks are for old people though." Even my mom said that, and she drives a Lincoln.

The Aveo is cool too, although not my type of car. However, compared to the Honda Fit or Scion box thingie I think it looks a lot more appealing.

The ol 2.5, 2.2...yeah, they kinda sucked. Quad4s were pretty bad ass in there day. In fact, a 180hp Quad4 was supposed to be the base model engine for the FWD Gen 4 Fbody, with a 260hp DOHC 3.4 being the top.
But these Ecotec series motors are very strong. The one that is going into this car is more then just your typical 4cyl...this one has a snail on it.
This is a reworked version of the same turbo 4cyl that found its way into the Cobalt SS, Pontiac Solstice GXP, and Saturn Sky Red Line.

GM does have a bunch of great products out right now. They will be launching 7 brand new cars at Detroit, with 4 concepts. And with the big 10 billion dollar payment to VEBA for the Unions, they cut medical overhead costs per vehicle by nearly 3,000. That means 3k extra in profit per GM vehicle sold.
Just imagine when things pick back up, and we go from GM being profitable at 10 million cars sold a year, to 15 million?



Yeah, the old imagine is tough to shake, but you mom bought a Linc so it cant be that bad. This little guy sure is going to seal the old people status. Sure, old people will still buy it, but like the CTS did for Cadillac, this should help drop the median age of owners by a decade or so.

wrong. the beretta was the planned replacement for the camaro just as the probe was for the mustang. the early mules were running around with a fwd v8 5 speed, awd turbo six cylinder.

Beretta was not a replacement for Camaro, but was going to be Camaro.
There were no V8's planned for the chassis, just teh Quad4 and DOHC 3.4. Only FWD V8 chassis around were for Caddy.
Even if there was a few mules that were running around with V8's and turbo Six's, they had zero production intent.
GM80 project I belive was the name of the FWD Camaro program.
Probe was not to replace the Mustang, but become the Mustang. When people pitched a fit, they pulled out of the program.
Third gen was also supposed to be a FWD car as there were two programs running in the late 70's, a FWD based program to make it like a large J body, or a RWD program very loosely based on the X body.

Both cars were too far along development, and they kept them going foward. Since Mustang FWD was going to be made on a Mazda-based platform, the engineering was done and they kept it for a sporty FWD coupe to match with the Celica and the like.
Same for Beretta

I'm with most of you guys - the Aveo is meh, but I really dig the Buick!! I think price range will determine who's gonna buy that car for sure - if it's low-mid 20's, then most likely they'll get younger buyers into it. If its 30K plus, GM can forget about young people buying it.

Well, first year the Regal CXL will be the only model, meaning its the top trim.
They will all be built in Germany and shipped here for 2010. When production shifts to Oshawa Canada, the car will have lower trim levels.
There will also be a smaller Astra-based sedan showing up soon.

also the 3.4's weren't dohc, they were stroked 3.1's with a modified tpi setup.
supposedly they ran mid 13s . they were in the convertible berettas that paced indy that year.
one of them went to the winner of the race, the rest were split up throughout gm. one of the original ones still sits
in an auto campus in ohio. ill post pics of them later.

the car is in a college in dayton ohio....they are under contract by gm to not allow any underbody, underhood or convertible component pictures to be taken. those were the only pics they were allowed to take up close....theres a few more taken from a balcony above it...but i cant find them.

at 3600 that wouldnt be much more then an EVO.... this could be a fun little platform for a DD

Thats the Beretta, Im taking about the FWD 4th Camaro that never came to be.
The FWD Camaro looked more like a 4th gen, not the boxy design of the Beretta.

I talked to the Chief Engineer of the Insigna/Regal today about the 2.0T. Two awesome things
1) 255/295 is far from final. They want more, and they said that there is room for more without much sacrafice in fuel economy. There will be NO V6 at this time.
2) The car has adaptable suspension and chassis dynamics, including a "GS" mode that can shift as much as 85% of the power to the rear of the car. Note, this is a FWD in regular trim.

that sounds so bad a$$. i would def consider it. if that 4cyl has that much power then damn. thats about what my v8 has..
