Well lets see the Cowboys have had Aikmen, E.Smith, and Irvin. All 3 are in the Hall of Fame or are going in the Hall of fame this year. Hell Barry Switzer won a Superbowl with that team. The Eagles have had how many Hall of Famers since 1989? I am sorry but if you had a starting Wide reviever, Starting Running back, and Starting QB all playing together and all Hall of famers you should win Superbowls!!
For me ( Being a Eagles fan) the only things I am angry about with the Eagles in the past 11 years are for not getting real recievers and getting rid of # 20. How many teams win a Superbowl with a Rookie starting # 2 Wide reciever, and a Rookie starting HB? I dont know of any. Most of the teams that win Superbowls have at least a 1000 yard Reviever and a 1000 yard Rusher. The Eagles have had 3 1000 yard Recievers this decade. Westbrook went over 1000 yards 2 times this decade and I think Duece Stayley went over 1000 yards 1 time this decade. How many QB's could take a team to a NFC Championship with your top 3 starting Wide Recievers being James Thrash, Todd Pinkston, and Freddie Mitchel and not having a running game? John Elway didnt win a Superbowl untill they had a Hall of fame Reciever and a great running back. Bill Cower didnt win a superbowl until he had a Hall of Fame Running Back and great recievers. NE won there superbowls because they had great recievers and a great running game.To say its Mcnabbs fault we never won a Superbowl is just stupid. Its the teams fault. To have a QB like Mcnabb in his prime from 2000-2006 and to only give him a NO1 Reciver for one of those years is just stupid. |
stinkston and trash sucked so hard. also funny fact. westbrook has never played a full season without missing a game

until romo has a conference championship, he loses. :p

As much as I'd like to see Mc-Nabb gone Romo isn't even in the same class as him. 1 playoff win in his career isn't anything. Any progress he made last week was obliterated this week. 3pts  Rumor has it they're going to extend Phillips' contract, he's 1-6 as a head coach in the playoffs and coached the team to their 2nd worse playoff loss in playoff history...DOH!

You know in 1998 the Eagles did not have any Pro bowl Players!! |
Jeff, what bugs me about him now is the lack of caring. I'm tired of the last few year of "well I can't wait until next year to get back at it". No, admit you guys got your asses handed to you. Stop blowing off a big loss like it's nothing.
Also, as much as the young receivers can have a negative impact they don't make him throw ground balls or overthrow the target by 5yrs. Years ago he'd run like a fat kid to a piece of cake...then the media start labeling him as a "running QB" and almost overnight he stopped. Granted he's been through major injuries but to me it doesn't seem like he's doing whatever it takes to win. I've ALWAYS been a defender of his, the media in this city can just be silly but enough is enough. Regular season stats don't mean anything, just ask the Chargers and the Cowboys. It's time to move on. This upcoming year will be his last year, trade him now while his value is still high. Get a draft pick and put the ball into the hands of Kolb, as much as I DON'T think he's the answer McNabb's tenure here is almost over. They either need to trade him now or get rid of Kolb before HIS contract is up. Either way A LOT has to change. Getting rid of B-Dawk was absolutely, 100% RETARDED. His fill ins were putrid this year. The front 4 sucked aside from Cole. The Andrew's brothers were useless so they need to address that too, hopefully the rest of the line stays healthy next year. I'm not one of those idiots that's going to say it was ALL McNabb's fault, it clearly wasn't but when you have the same piece in place for 11yrs and it's the same result something has to change. Yes he's still a good QB, yes he still has gas left in the tank but we, as fans, and the organization has to ask the question that begs to be answered....can they win it all next year. The answer is a loud NO. |

Is there a better chance of us winning it next year with Mcnabb or winning it without him next year? You see all these QB's playing till they are in there 40's. How Old is Mcnabb? 33? that means he has another 2-5 yrs left in his tank depending on injury. I for one think we have a better chance with Mcnabb then without him. Yes he has his stupid throws but if you look at how much this team throws the ball vrs run then I think its more on the coachs. To throw the ball 60-80 % of the time you will have some crappy throws. Its not like it is 1999 when we had a crappy team and needed a change. We have a very good team with Mcnabb. Are you willing to give that up for a small chance that Kevin Kolb will win a Superbowl? Hell even make the playoffs? It sucks not winning a superbowl or not winning in the playoffs but we are in the playoffs just about every year and we have been to a superbowl this decade. Believe me it sucks even more when you are 5-11 or 7-9 and not in the playoffs. We saw what happened to our Defense when we got rid of Dawkins because the team thought he wasnt able to play the way he use to. Now he is a starter in the pro bowl. Do you want to take that same chance with Mcnabb and Kolb? Kolb looked okay in his 2 starts this year. He threw 4 td's but also 3 int's. He looked crappy last year against Baltimore. |
Would they have a better chance of winning next year with McNabb? Yes. Will they win a Super Bowl? Abso-freakin-lutely not. That's my point. Who cares about winning 10 or 11 games next year if they're not SB caliber. They have an excellent young receiver core and a TE that could very well be a league leader in years to come. Why not make a decision NOW and if it's going to be Kolb play him NOW so he can start getting to know these guys for the future. At this point, with all of the division title, NFC Championship game appearances and everything else accomplished if it's not a Super Bowl it means nothing. This team isn't like Dallas that won their first playoff game in over a decade, as bad as their ass-whooping was today they can walk off the field and into the offseason with their heads high, they accomplished something. The Eagles aren't that team, they've already been there, done that.
So my point stands, if they can't win a Super Bowl next year with McNabb(which they can't IMO) then ditch him and get something for him now...OR sign him until the year 2020(kidding) so there's no more argument. |
Why not put in the dog killer?
|
Because the Eagles have a team option for him this upcoming year@$5 million. Unless he's going to see a significant amount of playing time I doubt they'll exercise that option.
The only way I can see them picking up that option is if they had a team interested in that trade and don't mind that dollar figure. $5 million is a lot of $$$ for a player that plays 40-60 plays a year. |

The team as currently configured is a playoff contender, NOT Superbowl contender caliber team. Get Kolb or someone in there and lets see what happens.... |

If the Phillies didnt win that W/S in 08 would they have torn apart that team and traded there best players? I dont know why the Eagles got rid of everyone from the 04 season. We know why they got rid of TO, and Why Sheppard left. We know why Dawkins left. The recievers who cares why the others left. Chad Lewis retired. Why they let Corey Simon go? Why Tra Thomas left and Jon Runyon left. If they wanted to make a QB change then before the 09 season was the right time to do it. When they started to get new personel on the O line then they should have changed QB's. |
