You would likely have ended up with a cracked up hood that would have cost a decent amount of time and money to fix and which would have weighed a considerable amount more from all the fiberglass reinforcement. If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Once that gel coat was cracked, and left the bare fibre glass exposed, you were goign to end up blowing money on a hood you should of gotten new in the first place. when something like that in fibre glass takes a sudden impact, not just the tips, but throughout the whole piece it would of been dmaged from the force.
