Apparently the LS1 did not appreciate lady gaga playing, and it refused to idle.

LTb1ow 03-07-2010 04:19 PM

I wanted to make hard lines from the plate to the solenoids, but I failed at figuring out what the correct size I needed...

Last I heard Kirk and Whiplash were getting a W/B but have yet to hear it runs better yet...

And I think I was laughing at Adam dancing to bad romance...

It idles now, and can be driven. Devin could not finish tuning it because there are some issues with exhaust leaks throwing off the wideband.

I have scary low oil pressure. It sits at 20 psi idle, only goes to 40 at WOT, and drops below 20 when coming to a stop. Either the oil pump I put in is a POS or the oring got pinched. I limped the car home where it will sit until next weekend when I can tear down the front again.

Im also throwing a P0300 random misfire, probably from the cam.

LTb1ow 03-07-2010 08:03 PM

20psi at idle is bad..

GM spec for my car is like 6psi at idle...

transmaro93 03-07-2010 08:20 PM

that is pretty low OP... how bad is it to get to your o/p on ls1's?? whats involved in that? where was the exhaust leaking??

KirkEvil 03-07-2010 08:37 PM

The leak is from the driver header to y pipe. I cant tell if the flanges are leaking or if oil is still burning off everything. The oil pump/oring is the blue thing in this pic...

Hey not my fault you lack clamps!

That ORY went on easy as hell too... all my doing.

The Oil pressure problem sounds like a pinched gasket to me which is why it was so nice to have the motor out of the car when I installed everything. What oil pump did you go with?

KirkEvil 03-07-2010 08:51 PM

It was supposed to be a ported ls6, but looked more like someone stuck a dremel inside the outlet tube of a stock one. and the internal gears were not to proper tolerance so the outer plate bolted down and made it impossible to turn over by hand. I swapped the gears from the stock pump into the ported housing and clearance was perfect.

I think the Oring got pinched. It looked like it went in right when I snugged up the bolt but who knows

NJ346 03-07-2010 08:55 PM

where did you get the pump from? I run a ported and polished LS6 pump from Texas Speed and get just over 40 at hot idle...and around 60-65 at WOT.

Btw, was your car previously tuned? I think i recall you saying you were going with a similar cam to mine...I drove around for a couple of days and didn't throw any codes so you might want to check over your plug wires and coilpacks to see if anything wasn't hooked up right.

KirkEvil 03-07-2010 09:04 PM

It was a ported tsp pump I picked up new from ls1tech almost a year ago. It only idled once on its own with the stock tune after about 20 min of keeping it alive, then died when put into gear. The cam is similar; 228/232 .614/.598 111+2. You have to consider that its an auto.

i was talking more in line with your random misfire code. I guess it's possible that the computer would set that code if you keep stalling out when your in D.

LTb1ow 03-07-2010 09:14 PM

Silly LS1 PCMs, can't handle the fury.

KirkEvil 03-07-2010 09:24 PM

Maybe you just got lucky with not getting the code. The code didnt come up right away, maybe after like 5 start ups with tuning. Some searching over on tech and it seems to be a common code with a lopey cam.

I guess I did get lucky. On initial start up I had the break booster disconnected(by accident) which made it even more lopey. And I also had a broken temp sensor so it would constantly try to cold start and run really rich....never set a check engine light.
