That's why most gas doors have a spot to store the cap right on the inside of the door. When I'm at an unfamiliar gas station I generally get out and take the cap off myself and pop it into the holder on the door, then let the attendant do his/her thing.

Heh....I don't recall ever having a woman pump gas for me, but I'm sure there are some female attendants somewhere.

Its New Jersey's own fault that we have gas station attendents, they are like a server at a restuarant they serve you want you want and they want a tip. that person needs to understand its ok to help someone out for free, if they deserved a tip they would get it without asking.

Completely different. Servers make under minimum wage and a majority of their wages are from tips.

I hate when they don't let the rest of the fuel in the nozzle drain in to the fill neck and let it run down the side of my truck (and the Trans Am when i had it.)

The other thing I hate is when there are two employees running 4 pumps each and you sit there for 15 minutes waiting to get serviced. When I worked at Vosper and sons on route 37 when I was younger I ran the entire place by myself which had 8 sides for pumps, and never had people waiting. I think laziness is starting to really impact itself on society though.

at the shop in Teaneck i used to work at from '99-'01, my boss's GF would pump the gas most of the time.

i work at gas station i always carry a rag if anything spills i never rest the cap on the car and always wash the windshield i nice cars i ask cuz i know some people dont like it. it really shows we arent the cheapest gas in town but i always see the same people, amazing what courtesy and the fact that you speak English does for a business.

Agreed. I think the guy was just looking out for someone else, which is good in a way. Now, had someone said "tip ME" I'd have just told him he just blew it.

I throw 'em 2 bucks if I fill up & they're not d-bags.

I only let them put the nozzle in my car, other then that, I loosen and tighten the cap, and remove the nozzle, cause fuel goign down the side of my car happened once, and only once, and by the time I was done bitching the kid out cause he was standing there, too busy talking to his co worker instead of focusing on his work, I realized that not alot of people respect other peopel property too much, or at least just dont give a damn.

Moral of story.... don't run out of gas

First time it ever happened with one of my cars. the only other time was with a rental car we used at our work. boss forgot to tell me the gas gausge was way off. was goign down the A.C. Expressway, and when the car began to slow down, and not speed up, I was at a loss for why cause the gas gauge read 1/4 tank ( I was sent out on a repair call, once again I had luck that I passed an exit, and at teh end of the ramp was a gas station, so i didnt have to walk far.)

and no the moral of the story is, when working with the public, don't tell them what to do with their money, unless it's your last day, and you tell them which body orfice to shove it up

This.

All thought it is BS that laws permit restaurants to basically cut all overhead on servers by forcing us to pay them. I wouldnt feel inclined at all to tip a server if I knew they were making $10 an hour.

Were not allowed to check oil or even put air in tires, Or push a car of the fuel court. Thats just how it goes. What WAWA was it?
